Our solar production for May. Awesome and more than twice our monthly usage from PPL and this included several weeks of running our pool heater and the pump 24 hours a day.

Interesting item in the Wyo "news" this AM - trying to figure out how to charge electric vehicles for road use (instead of traditional fuel tax at the pump). Wyo is charging an additional $200 to register an EV......... Somehow, I don't think that is enough.......but it may be all they can get away with for now.

Is there anyway they can add a usage tax on at charging stations on the road? Taking a trip probably will require a charge along the way and instead of a fuel tax have a usage tax plus the fee for charging the EV. I'm sure the powers that be will figure it out Steve.

    Afternoon all:

I have seen a proposed milage tax on EV's, makes sense, but don't know they plan to go about collecting it, maybe when you go to recharge it will add the computer milage readout to the charging fee as Tom posted.
I believe there is a 18c federal gas tax and a 59c Pa. gas tax on every gal. of gas sold in pa, that's 77c a gal tax.
Lets see, I drive about 8k mi. per year now, and at 18 mpg av., (being generous), I go through app. 445 gal per year, 445gal.@ 77c = $342.65 tax. A lot of people drive a lot more than that, 16,000 mi. would be app. $650.00 tax, and 32,000 mi. would be app. $1,300 in tax., there is NO WAY IN H*** that any Govt. agency is going to lose that type of revenue, if anything they will add additional fees or tax.

Looks like :tinfoilhat::tinfoilhat::tinfoilhat: would best describe that, would bet that they weren't the first three cars that they stole either!

Could be photoshopped, but the article said that she was only inches away from a Bison in Yellowstone, if factual, that is one lucky stupid young girl!

So Wyoming is worried about the lack of tax revenue from fuel sales? And compensating through a yearly registration tax? Is that what they figure gas/diesel users average over a year? Sounds reasonable to me.

I hadn't even thought about the loss of fuel taxes to be honest. I suppose you could tax based on miles driven, and that would be more fair, but how do you get that information reliably?

Oh, I'm sure that one of the computers on the car with GPS tracking could keep track of every mile driven to the 10th, then the charging station could download it and bill accordingly, something on the principal of E-Z pass.:notsure:
Another option may be to go by average miles driven and just charge everyone the same fee weather you drive 8,000 or 80,000 mi. a year, that would not be good and sure hope that no one decides to come up with that plan!
