Are you in town driving? if so, keep your rpm's below 2,000. i know it sucks if you have a heavy foot like mine. but if you want better gas mileage, you are gonna have to stay out of it. my best in town is 14.5. my best on the highway is 18.3. driving in town sucks. i was told to burn 87 grade gas also. i did notice a difference with the 87 grade. good luck.

obviously mileage depends on many factors such as percentage city vs highway miles, weather, driving style, % ethanol content, etc. however, the non stock tires are roughly 1" larger in diameter so you are traveling further than your odometer states (unless you've corrected for this) so your mileage is roughly 1.5-2% better than you think. Check your air pressures, try filling with non-ethanol laced gas. For comparsion, I swapped my orginal 245/75-16's for 265/75-16's on the stock rims with the more aggressive Goodyear AT's and dropped 1.5-2 mpg (corrected) with my Access cab 4x4 (lower geared) 6sp stick. Autos get better mpg with their higher final drive. I'm averaging 17-18 mpg if I keep light foot, but drops rapidly if I exceed 75 mph, or if I drive in snow.

My FJcruiser is just as bad as the 05' Taco I traded in. The bigger tires will rob your mpg's everytime!

Did you lose 3 mpg with BFG AT, cause I was going to by those, same size.

According to tirerack those are pretty light tires, about the same as my 265/75/16 Duratracs. My 07 4x4 DC has gotten 18.8 last 4 tanks, 90% hiway 55mph. Must be the increase drag from those big stickers on the side. 13 sux man and tire size correction wouldn't explain that. And yeah I ran about 10 tanks of premium fuel (91) consecutively and didn't see any difference in power or mpgs. Sumting wong! How many miles on your 07?

doug was getting 18 easy with my nittos same size tire just 10 lbs lighter than the bfg.. now its 17 if i baby it. the extra weight of the ten ply tires doesnt help at all.... might take that into consideration before u buy....although have no complaints on the tires they ride alot better than the nittos i had

airun i took the stickers off a month after i made them so :D lmao and only 32,000 and the stock tire size yoter is 265/70/17 im slightly bigger but it's barely noticeable to the eye let alone effect my truck even 1 whole mpg. i just don't see why my mpg has dropped off i purchased my tacoma to get a break from the gas station with my 05 Titan lol but at this point if im going to get shit gas with everything im buying a cummins and at least buying a truck tried and trued. with decent mpg hell 91 is almost only 10 cents a gallon cheaper than diesel here in PA

Have you ran some injector cleaner? I'm sure youve done air filter and plugs and all that. Seems to run smooth and all?
May have to take it in to a good mechanic

The only time I've gotten that low is loaded down running 75-80 mph on hilly interstate with headwind. Probably bad combo of multiple variables such as driving habits, crappy gas, perhaps suboptimal engine condition and drag/resistance (heavy wheel/tire combos, cruddy bearings or driveline components etc). And of course condsidering calibration of speedo/odo as well.

this could be a couple reasons 1. the psi in the tires could be low 2. you could be beatin the truck up where ever you go and 3. you may need to change your air filter

I do better commuting to and from Boston (rush hour traffic) than I do on an open highway. I get 18 mpg commuting and 17 with cruise set on the highway at 73 +/-mph. If it's flat, I can get up around 20 but hills kill the mileage! Not sure what part of PA you're in, but if you're in the mountains that could be the cause. FWIW, I've got a 2007 Dbl cab 4x4 with a cap and running 265/65R17 A/T tires.
