It will will never stop being funny to listen to boomers who think that the term “boomer” is reserved specifically for the Baby Boomers. Any person can be a boomer, it just means you and you ideas are old. It’s not literal, but the fact the it triggers people into trying to mansplain it is what makes it so funny. That triggered reaction is the most boomer thing ever and it immediately justifies the label, even when it comes from Gen X or whatever.

All gens will have their followers, and i can see many choosing the 3G because it is more refined aesthetically. But Toyota still builds Land Cruisers with the 1GR for a reason. It’s the best performing V6 they make.

There is actually no increased suspension travel in front on the PRO. It’s just 3” wider. Huge fail IMO.

This is how a view the 3rd gen Taco, an anemic engine for sure....
    upload_2023-6-2_16-17-52.jpg
however, that doesn't mean that is not a very capable and reliable engine whatsoever.
Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to the next gen Taco!!!

If l could afford a new one it honestly wouldn't be the Pro or TH, an OR or Sport MT would be plenty.

You can’t even read. Where do I claim that ?

I specifically stated that a turbo engine will be more maintenance heavy and have more issues than a comparable engine that isn’t equipped with a turbo. All other things being equal.

That in itself doesn’t make it unreliable and I haven’t made that claim anywhere, period. There are plenty “reliable” turbo engines and plenty “unreliable” N/A motors.

First off the term Boomer was most certainly directed at Baby boomers. It happened when soft younger gens were crying that Baby Boomers stole their future. Ruined the planet etc. You can claim it now means whatever you want but you are being a bit dishonest on what it started out as. Anyway the low muscle tone, skinny jeans wearing, extremely soft Gen Z’s are no threat to Gen X or Boomers. They just don’t have it in them.

By claiming they are more maintenance heavy, you are claiming they are unreliable with the same amount of maintenance. The fact is, turbocharged engines do not require any more maintenance than a normally aspirated engine.

I have learned as I get older, that I enjoy talking to all ages. I enjoy talking to my elders. I also enjoy showing the youngsters the nature around them.

Yesterday a group of children walked right below a fledgling Barred Owl and never saw it. So I stopped them and pointed it out. Maybe they’ll talk to me when I’m really old. I’ve seen a thing or two.

I work with the public on a one to one basis, chat with people from all walks of life, you can learn a lot from all ages. The youngsters aren’t as lost as some assume.

I was young and dumb once, now I am just dumb. ;)

But they will be sure to TELL THEIR THERAPIST about how you triggered them as they eat a Tide Pod and toss it down with a Hawaiian Punch on the rocks!

Oh no! Their THERAPIST might get angry at your triggering opinion!

The good news is that the Boomers, GenX, and some early Millennials have all of the money and the good credit, so we'll be buying the goods, thank you. Now please let the adults talk.

Ok, bailing on taking this point further since I don't need a mod induced vacation.

Just to clarify, the extra maintenance I was speaking of would be a heightened amount of oil changes(I would do 3500 miles) and more cool-down time before turning off the truck. Heck, I sort of being doing this already with my V6. I’m someone who does change fluids early and often. I’ve got 11K and have already changed out 6 quarts of transmission fluid and dumped the factory Differential oil. I agree it’s probably a waste of money but it’s cheap when I do it myself and gives me something to do besides a wash and wax on the weekends. Still my biggest complaint is the Transmission logic and how Toyota programs the shifting. I had the truck tuned(KDMAX) but at this point I had it changed back to stock configuration. With the stock tune it drives great but after 35mph it wants to be in 5-6 gear and that’s where the problems start. It seems to shudder at the low RPM and slow speed when trying to accelerate and then shifts back down to 3rd at that speed and then right back to 5th. Even on the interstate I have had shifting issues. I have talked to several people with 3rd gens and I think it comes down to just how picky you are. I just bought a pair of new shorts for the summer and I don’t like how the top of pockets are open when you sit down. So it could just be me. I know they are wanting to get the best efficiency but it sacrifices drivability.

So in your specific example it won't cost any more money since you already do more frequent oil changes (which won't even be required more than likely in a T4) on your current vehicle. Also running it longer for cool down (which 99% of owners won't do) is negligible since it will produce better fuel economy.
