    Hi all,

I recently installed the weathertech window deflectors and only on the front drivers side, it seemed to be interfering with and pushing out the window gasket. Weathertech sent me a new pair but it seems as if the damage is done. Could this be how my truck was designed and it’s an isolated issue?

Has anyone else encountered this issue or have any advice on how to fix this?

    Thanks!

I have the Weathertechs and do not have this issue. Try to reinstall them and push the gasket back in place before you reinstall.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
I have them on my '21 TRD OR AC - no issues.
Looks like you didn't get them properly installed.

Can't tell but your deflectors may not be sitting in the channel high enough or as far up as possible.
I put the deflectors in the channel with glass down, all the way in, and to the top. Make sure everything is good including weather stripping before closing the glass.
Good idea not lower or work the windows for 3 days after install so the adhesive can cure.

I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled 5 times. I’ve currently removed them to see if my window gasket will settle back in. I’m thinking it might be a defect on my truck.

I’m also planning on slightly trimming down the back end piece to see if it fits better and doesn’t push hard on the window gasket.

Wow I was looking at getting some. Actually was going to order them today for my 2011 after I saw them on another Tacoma at the gas station.

    Enough for now
does the window leak like that? If not I wouldn’t worry about it. My dumbass had the rear weather tech window deflectors installed on the wrong side for months until a buddy pointed it out. No issues then or after I put them in correctly with leaking. Now I did have the rear get a bit loose and sag when the windows were down so I stuffed 3M tape in the upper gasket and it hasn’t happened since

In-channel window guards need to be properly installed otherwise, there will be problems.

I've had the same shop install my Sport's as well as my wife's Elantra's done and they are fantastic.

    Here's mine!

Had them on a Tundra and now my 2nd Taco...no issues. You do have to make sure they are fully seated up into the channel.

I think mine are doing something similar, but only on the driver side. I'll have to fuss with them again to see if I can get them just right. No noticeable leaks anywhere I can discern though.

Just a few accessories, mud flaps, bed cover , racks, seat covers, ….
Main reason I’ve installed on my truck, to crack windows for some fresh air on rainy days ! Also is great for smokers on rainy days. He just has to follow the instructions. I left my windows up for 2 days after installations.

Trimming the inserted section a bit should be fine. I trimmed the driver side on my 18 Tacoma because it had sharp corners and was pushing on the gasket (not as bad as yours). It never moved a bit or had any issues with the window.

    @DVR

Yes, I did--worth the money spent in my opinion.

For my Sport, I had the front windows tinted and asked if they would install all 4 window guards with tint...$160 total.

For my wife's Elantra, all windows tinted (except the windshield) and installed 4 window guards...$220.

Letting the tint shop install them sounds more reasonable. They are already tinting the windows after all. In chanel are easy to install.

Yes, this is only happening on the driver side. I currently have removed the front driver side and will trim down the back end a bit to see if it provides less pressure.
