ICON RXT Leaf Springs, Option 2 or Option 3?

What size rim? Bigger rims will give a bigger measurement.

 

30.5" stock, 34.5" after lift and mods. This was with 16" rims.

i wanna say im 24" hub to fender but im not 100% certain

 

I’m on a fresh install of the RTX leaf pack about a month now and I run empty most the time with only 80lbs for my truck cover and I’m on option 3. I would recommend to anyone that if you’re debating about both I would just go for 3 it’s stiff but nothing like you’ll expect and it rides way better than factory. From hitting curbs to anything it’s so much smoother. I thought it changed the entire dynamic of the truck instantly after 2 years of my lift with 6112/5160’s.

That is great to know! I think it’s settled, option 3 is what I’ll go with. I also don’t have a sway bar. Removed that 2 years ago. By going with option 3 I should reduce the body roll I get

 

100% I will remove mine when I get 700lbs springs up front. The 600lbs springs just wouldn’t cut it sadly at the moment.

got the rxt leaf pack. I run an icon stage 5 kit.

do I go with option 2 or 3?

do I need extended brake lines? If so, what size? Got any links?

C4 fab front and rear bumper. RCI skid plates front, transmission, and transfer.

RCI rock sliders

RCI bed rack with spare tire and some gear: hi lift, traction boards, shovel, rotopax.

You will have to add up the weight of your add ons for a comparison but for reference I have:

leitner rack: 120lbs
2 3g rotopax: 40lbs full
Decked drawers with gear: 300lbs
33” spare: 75lbs
Rock slider: 100lbs
Full steel skids: 210lbs
Hitch mounted spring compressor: 90lbs

I have RXT option 2 with a 2.5x12” shock (not that shock length affects ride height generally) and hammer hangers

Sits nice and level with the 2” front lift after settling and rides really nice

I have the crown +4” brake lines from accutune. Rear were required for sure. Stock fronts.

I am not sure how much longer than stock the icon rear shocks are. Can be a PIA to get to the brake line fittings. I had the bed off my truck at the time so it was easy.

If I were you I’d look into the rear brake bracket block/spacer. It lifts up the brake line bracket where it attaches to the rear axle and is supper simple to install.

are your rear shocks extended travel?

 

Yes they are 12” travel (more than “extended travel”)

 

I have a similar setup as you. Currently running option 3 with Rago hangers. I don’t carry anything in my bed until I go camping. My every day setup is a steel rear bumper, hitch skid, sliders, full size 33” spare, bed rack, steel skids and factory bed mat. Probably 300 lbs, give or take, over the rear axle. I came from All Pro Standard 3” leafs and these are significantly smoother. When I first installed them I was 25.5” from centre of rear hub to bottom of fender on both sides. After a month of daily driving and a couple overland trips with another 300-400 lbs added in the bed, the leafs are broken in and have settled to 24.5” on both sides (without any weight added). When I add weight I loose another 0.5-1”. I would highly recommend extended brake lines. I have All Pro stainless steel ones

 

They may have changed the third gen but unless you’re jumping the truck the extended break lines were not a requirement. I may do some eventually on my second gen but I can lift the left tire off the ground and have plenty of play in the break lines. Only have to worry if the whole axil is off the ground and going to full extension.

 

Anyone have a rear shock recommendation with the RXT springs? I'd be running option 2 as well. I have a constant 400 lbs. Thanks

 

Really depends on your goal of the truck. Whats the setup on your truck and vision?

 

Just camping and 4x4 on mostly fire roads. Nothing too extreme. Depending on where I camp some fire roads can be filled with nasty pot holes. Other than that i just need it to hold my weight. As it sits it sags about 1/2" in the rear.
