About to give up.....

So, I've researched, experimented, tried and tried again.

I have a clank (narrowed down) to my front driver's side. I've replaced my suspension, inner and outer tie rod ends, lcas and ucas, sway bar end links, sway bar, radiator support bushings etc... The clank used to come from both sides, but after I (over torqued?) The cam bolts, the clank on my passenger side went away completely, but drivers side stayed the same. I torqued all of the bolts to 135 foot pounds.

Oh, also! It doesn't clank at all when I'm braking.

Any other suggestions? I have a good sound system, but rolling with the windows down I can still hear it.....

 

Brake related? Not sure how it’s possible, but maybe a loose bolt or connector in there that tightens up when you hit the brakes?

 

Not sure. But the clank is the same sound as the clank that went away when I torqued the lca bolts higher

 

Could be the rack and pinion.

 

I sure hope not..... I've heard replacing that is super fun

 

Process of elimination. If it doesn’t clank while braking, that tells you something. Identify all the moving parts connected to the braking system and check them for issues.

 

There's a thread on here about the front strut/coilover lower bolt. The factory one has a shank that isn't long enough. Some have fixed their clunk by replacing with a different bolt and nut.

 

I'll dive into that tomorrow. Maybe the pads? Who knows. Maybe the caliper snapped off due to all my hard core on-roading

Could be. I have the TRD special special brake pads. Looked pretty healthy when I checked last month

Annnnnnd, just spent 40 bucks on bolts and nuts. At least it will look pretty.

 

I do, they have the proper spacers, are torqued properly and the shackle I have up front doesn't swing hard enough to smack it

Feel you! Is there any other scientific way to narrow this down? Is the only option to install kings so the squeaking n shit overpowers the clanks? Lmao. I did a video in español in regards of this topic my shit clanks when I compress to the point of touching the bump stops. Cheers bro!

Ya my shit clanks over any bump. Nowhere near bottom out, or bump stop

 

mine is/was steering rack hardware
The nuts are one time use locking not meant to be loosened; the bolt must be loosened
Which normally makes no sense
well I zapped them off pulling the rack out to rebush it, put it back, and clunk. Only recently figured out that to be the culprit.
