Yep. That could have been my wife if I'd have let her. While touring the Rockies once upon a time, she wanted me to stop so she could pet a "buffalo". Duh.

She got very lucky. An animal that wasn't feeling well, or was more acclimated, or even one that had some amount of docility (highly heritable) from domestic cattle genes that have polluted the bison gene pool.
Of course posting that pic will encourage other idiots. And I'm sure the media will be glad to cover that easy news as it happens.

Love the part where she stops to fix her hair too.
there’s been at least 6 incidents in the last week that I know of and I’ve been MIA without cell for 4 days. Luckily for as many people that are doing dumb shut there are people catching it on video so that people can be ID’ed and punished.

30 years ago I was helping with rodeo security. They brought out a buffalo to show people. The dam thing jumped into the bleachers cleared a 7' fence. We had to jump into action to get people safe. Directing people out while the handler's tried to get it under control. People were running for their lives. Afterwards all anyone could talk about was how effortless the animal cleared that barrier.

And then you have a guy ride one in videos.
    "Guy on a buffalo."

Jubal Sackett, in the Louis L'Amour book, rode a bison

I'm a little rusty on my WWII bombers, is that a Liberator or a Mitchell.

she's acting like she's petting a friends Dog. She could have been removed from the Gene Pool in a heartbeat. Animal that size would trample her to death in seconds, and she sure as shit ain't going to outrun that Bison.

Yes Sir, that is our B25J Mitchell. The Yellow Rose.
The Liberators are the B24. Four Engine, both are the twin tail.

That buffalo is faster than can be imagined for it's size.

My wife and I used to go over to Yellowstone yearly - usually the last week before the place closes in the fall and camp at the "fishing bridge" campground (just above the lake). Just cruise around every day and have a last look before the real snow shows up. Took a drive up toward the NW gate - just drifted a bit - and on the way back we found a wild west scene (only in Yellowstone) where two gizzlies were on a gravelbar across the river - disputing ownership of a buffalo carcass - with a nearby crowd. Pretty agitated and getting more so. The river there is often so shallow that fishermen in waders can cross it on foot. A full tilt griz would be across in a few heartbeats. People had left their cars up on the road and gone down to the river bank(!) - like right directly across the river from this altercation. Believe me it wasn't a barrier. A ranger showed up and was doing his best to warn others away - and get the attention of the idiots by the water. We had lived there too long, too long to want to watch what seemed likely to happen and drove on south...... This looked sure to become another fatal incident.

There were interactions like this one - occurring every time we went there. Every time! One or two people get killed each year and many others seriously injured.

Imagine a critter bigger, faster and more surefooted than a champion cutting horse. At the Durham buffalo ranch in Campbell county Wyo - they herd them with F-350 pickups - with the doors welded shut, few windows and cage bars inside. Those trucks ain't fast but are way safer for the ranch hands.

We can all look back on stupid idiotic chances we took in our younger days, most all out of pure ignorance, usually combined with whiskey.
I even flinch now when reminiscing about how stupid I was last week. :der:

    Good morning fellow Porchatonians!!

@Oldie2007 I think I probably posted this a few years back - sorry if I did. My wife's uncle was a top turret gunner in VPB-115 in the Pacific during WWII flying in the Navy version of the B-24 - the single tail PB4-Y.

This was one of the aircraft in his squadron.

He was a member of Crew 4. He is in the front row, kneeling, second from the right.

Many years ago we were at a University of Colorado football game. When Ralphie the buffalo ran diagonally across the field with her handlers from pen to pen it was incredible to see...and hear. The thunder of the hooves of one animal...wow

    Good morning Pals and Gal

Having a quick breakfast and then Mrs. SpruceMica and I are headed to the racetrack to see @Tacoma Mike and his team compete today. About a 90 minute drive for us. I've been going to the sports car races at Lime Rock Park since 1973.
