Frame Preventive Maintenance

Good to crawl under you truck especially if its new or fairly new to check on any rust turning up. I spray Rustoleum Bedliner everytime I see some rust. Easy to do maintenance check once a week. I have done this will all my trucks that I have owned over my lifetime and never had any issues. Plus it keeps the undercarraige looking great.

 

Yeah I use the Rustoleum undercoating twice a year. I just hit my frame rail with a wire wheel and removed all the rust and sprayed a fresh coat of undercoating and it looks like a new frame now.

 

I painted the hole frame took all tires off, skid plates, an hit it with the wire brush an painted it with rustolem hammered black it looks good

 

ya same here but i usually do it 10+ times a years but i think por-15 works gerat too. and its a do it once and never again. kinda like rhino bedliner.(but i've never used it...yet)

but anyways i looked up my taco on the toyota website and it shows that there was no recalls for my 98. i thought there was... anyone know anything about this?

 

I get under my truck a few times a year with rustolem paint and a small brush. The only places I've had to touch up so far are just around the welds.

 

Why rustoleum ?
It does not do much. You need to to hit the frame with solid primer (something with rust inhibitors) then with decent paint to seal the primer and frame.
Rustoleum is for touch up and even at that fails.

 

Not true bro. Rustoleum has rust inhibitors in it and if you have ever seen the bed liner line its thick and really good.

 

So what will be the best option for my truck ( FRAME) , the Rustoleum undercoating or the Bed Lines line ???????

 

doesn't the undercoating stuff have a textured plastic like appearance?
I saw it at walmart the other day but it said it was a rough look...

 

That's where I got mine. You really should wire off any rust first, wipe it dry then spray on the Rustoleum.

 

I have been using KBS Rust Shield then hit it with VHT Epoxy Frame Paint.
All i can say is that rust NEVER comes back to the same spot even after 3 years and over 81,000 miles of midwestern weather it looks almost showroom new.

 

What is this VHT Epoxy Frame Paint and where do you get it?

 

I wish Toyota had an option for a stainless steel frame.

 

u guys ever try Por15. it's amazing stuff. it dries so hard you cannot chip it with a screwdriver. I painted the frame of my rig with it 2 years ago and it still looks like new...

it's a little like Krown...but i think its a bit better. I plan on painting my floors with it this summer.

that would be freaking awesome....but unfortunately stainless steel is much weaker than regular steel
