I had a broken leaf and had the General HD's installed. I read and thought they weren't supposed to lift the truck at all. Now I have 4" difference front and rear. Will the Bilstein 5100's lift the front enough? I searched but didn't find much but some contradicting info. Some have stated that they've ran the 5100's with OME coils. After reading headstrong offroad's lift guide it looks like using the 887's might get me close. I've read the Lift FAQ/Guide and the last sentence makes me cautious of doing so.

I don't mind having some of the rake that is supposed to be there just not as much. I also don't want to spend a ton of money.

How long have you had them installed?
Most springs will settle a little after a bit of driving, maybe toss some sandbags or weight in the bed to help break them in.

Before you attempt to remove the rake, I think you should be trying to figure out why you got 4" of lift. You don't say what Year or Model Tacoma you have. I am on the General Springs Website and they hve all sorts of different leaf springs depending on the year. Are you sure you got the right ones?

I am not familiar with the brand so really can't help otherwise. But don't try to fix it by raising the front. You might have done something wrong. I read a few reviews from others just now who have used various General Srings leafs and they report 2" of lift.

    Thems the ones.

It's been a few months since the shop installed them. I would think they have settled by now.

I have a 2013 access cab 4x4. I didn't get 4" of lift, I have 4 inches difference from the front to the rear. I don't know much rake there was before they were installed as I never measured.

So after a little more re-searching I came across another members build that put me at ease. My main thing was I didn't really want lift the truck at all. Maybe just the 5100s up front to level. I bought the HD leafs because I didn't want to have to replace them again.

Member BrownTaco12 did this, has pictures uploaded here and it looks good.

I may also be measuring my height to the fender incorrectly. I had the end of the tape on the ground as apposed to the center of the hub.

Just remeasured my height hub to fender and it still shows a 4" difference front and rear.
20"/24" I suspect this is just due to the leafs shifting the weight balance.

How much extra weight is on your truck at all times?

None, the bed is almost always empty. IDK I read somewhere that these leafs didn't lift they were just stiffer and more bifl. I guess I'm an idiot.

Sadly you got the wrong info about that.

Who's correct? The 20" front and 22" rear makes the most sense as it adds up to the 2" from the hd springs.

    4 run, 2 don't
    Doesn't look as substantial.

But you bought the "HD" pack which is meant for heavier loads (constant).

If you're not carrying anything, then it's obvious you'll sit higher than stock.

That's factory fresh numbers and varies a bit depending on which model you have. After a few years most people seem to settle down to 1" of rake.

Plus being an access cab your truck is lighter than a 4x4 double cab so more lift with the same setup.

Cheapest easiest fix is to toss 300lbs of sandbags in the bed.

You could probably get 3rd gen take off front struts. People say those will lift the 2nd gen 1inch in the front. Might be a bit stiffer up front with those. You would also be getting a new shocks depending on wear. You can always upgrade the shocks if you want.
