We are going to go ahead with release today instead of the 7th. It is Saturday and a good time to be able to respond to PM's.

    KDMax-Pro-10.0
The KDMax-Pro Tuning Group is proud to announce an updated, improved KDMax-Pro tune.
This release is the result of extensive testing and monitoring by our group (and some customers trucks) over the last few months.
We also were able to Dyno test a customer's truck to compare KDMax-Pro-10.0 and the Toyota stock tune.
(Dyno pulls done in 4th gear).
We were able to make significant improvements in multiple areas.

-More power- HP+Torque gains throughout the RPM range
-Improved/smoother throttle settings for better throttle control
-Improved air/fuel settings for better MPGs
-Improved shift settings for predictable shifting
-Significant optimization of transmission behavior for better passing power on the highway
    -Overall improved DRIVABILITY!

    Pricing
New customers that DIY with Vftuner can purchase the 3 file Tunepack for $300.
Returning customers that are updating with Vftuner get the 3 file Tunepack for FREE by PMing @PapaRee or @TWTaco.
All customers that were tuned by someone in our KDMax-Pro group will be able to get updated for $100.

    Dyno results

    Note from Dyno operator:

Hey guys, Jacob here with DyNomad.

I'll post up some key notes about the Dyno.
First off, you cannot compare different vehicles, on different days, with different dynos, running in different gears. You will only go around in circles with someone trying to nit pick the results. It is pointless to compare a stock trucks power output using a Dynocom Dyno to a stock truck using a Dynojet. It is universally accepted that Dynojets are the highest reading dynos on the market. This is why so many tuning companies prefer them, because the average consumer is too naïve to understand that the peak power output a dyno shows is arbitrary.
What a dyno does is shows a delta. That is the only factor that matters. It wouldn't matter if this dyno showed that it made 100hp, the delta would still be the same percentage of change between the runs. Only focus on the gains over stock. If 10.0 makes 20 more hp than stock on this dyno, it will make 20 more hp than stock on a dynojet.
The 3rd gear vs 4th can skew results. The real reason why most people use 3rd in these trucks is because of wheel speed. In 4th we ran this truck to 140mph, clinching our buttcheeks the whole time. At these speeds, driveshaft failure can occur from critical speed failure. Fortunately, we didn't have that problem, we just sent it for the science. When someone uses a non 1:1 ratio in the trans, or close to it, the torque values are usually misrepresented. Now, this can be corrected depending on the type of pickup that is used by the dyno operator. I would assume that the other guys used an optical pickup on the crank, or possibly an inductive pick up on the coil wire. IF they used that, the results are not so skewed, but if they used something called "snapshot" which relies on the synchronization of the wheel speed in 1:1 gear vs the roller speed, the results can be very skewed. Either way, 3rd gear is a torque multiplier. I guarantee if they ran in 4th, the results would not be the same.
People are going to get hung up on the overall peak power output and see that others show a higher number. There is unfortunately nothing that can be done about it. They did however use a lower correction factor that will read a little lower, which is surprising. They used SAE, we used STD. Its a subtle difference, but its there.
The big take away from this is the smoothness of the curve with the KD Max Tune. You can quite literally feel the difference. Look at the power difference under the curve between stock and 10.0. It is massive in some spots. You can clearly tell where the stock ecu is pulling timing around max torque. It is too conservative. The 10.0 keeps timing in there, maybe a slight adjustment after peak tq, and then ramps it back in. Stock wavers a bit. This is due to being on 87 octane. Others were on 91 octane. If we were to run this truck on 93, the difference would be even more substantial, but then again the stock tune would also increase in power.
Happy to answer anymore questions you guys may have. Remember, you are not selling these tunes for HP gains. You are selling drivability enhancements, the added hp and tq are just the icing on the cake!

    Just a FYI

The throttles are "tamer", and we have them smoother from a stop.

Still 3 choices: Lite, Normal, Sport

Glad we can talk about V10 now. I’ve been running it for the last few weeks and it’s very smooth and noticeably more refined. I haven’t towed with it yet but so far I’m very happy with the change for daily driving. Still getting great MPG’s and downshifts are more predictable. V9 was great but this further improves on what KDMax is known for. I really appreciate that these guys continue to improve and support their product. I’ve tried other tunes and KDMax continues to impress me.
    Thanks @TWTaco and @PapaRee.

Glad you released the tune early so I can share my thoughts of it from the days that I've been using it so far.
I went with the normal throttle and am very happy with it. There was a time I liked the more aggressive throttle, but that came at the expense of a very touchy and possibly lurching truck at speeds close to idle, like a parking lot or entering or exiting a car wash.
This has power when you want it. It doesn't just drop a couple gears and take off on you at normal speeds, so you have great control. If you want it to do that, just push the pedal down more than normal at the time and it will do it. Not having that happen as a default is very nice. The gears it is picking at different speeds are perfect as well as the shift points. I can definitely tell a difference in the above when compared to 9.0, and it is much better in my opinion.
You guys hit this one out of the park.

Have you guys see this before? I updated VF tuner and now I’m getting this. Cannot proceed from here. I’m computer retarded btw.

Did you do a full reinstall? That’s necessary for version 1.7.3. Also make certain to exempt the VFTuner directory from Windows Defender scanning. I’ve not seen this error but those would be my first 2 thoughts.

I believe I did a full reinstall. This is what I’m doing right now. I tried it again and it’s saying the same thing. I’ll try and figure out how to exempt it.

Mat has been looking into some logger issues in this new version. It’s possible this is related to that issue. If it persists I would suggest opening a ticket via the VFTuner site. I just read through the comments on the FB group, and no one mentions what you are seeing but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s related.

I just tried to update my vfTuner to the latest 1.7.3 version, and mine failed also. Sent an email to OVTune hoping they'll get back to me early next week.

This is almost certainly related to the data logger issues Mat is chasing. I’m sure he will get it fixed soon. Sending him a ticket with a detailed description of the problem is the best thing you can do, so he knows about it.

I've also had V10 for a little while. 9 was good but 10 is a big step up in overall smoothness. The shifts are much smoother and the throttle tip-ins are noticeably less violent. I spend more time than I'd like to in stop and go traffic so the lite still works best for me, but if I ran my truck in pretty much any other scenario I'd probably go with the normal throttle. I'm also getting some of the best mpg I ever have in this truck. I've seen 80+ mph freeway trips that I travel frequently that I usually average in the 15-16 mpg range in the 19+ mpg range after flashing V10. This tune is fantastic.

is it really so critical to be in a 1:1 trans gear when your diffential gearing is gona be a huge reduction. theres a large variation between 3.91s and 5.29s and tire size that change the final drive. say a 3rd gear pull with 3.91s and 35s would be the same wheel speed as a 5th gear pull with 5.29s and 265s
