Thinking it’s just the sensor. So far no leaks. Just waiting on it to cool down, still 99 degrees, then drive it back to the house.
Bad timing though as this was the start of a 12 day road trip through Utah then up to Yellowstone.
    6 cylinder
Hahaha yeaaa same, the taco just decided it doesn’t want to go to Moab and Yellowstone this time :anonymous:

You can go home, fix whatever issue, then turn back around and go to Moab!

Or better yet fix it on-road.

When we did our Moab trip, 99% of us drove the whole way to. My trip was 17hrs and I think @eon_blue was 13-14hrs. Drove non-stop each way.

You've got members that live along your route and I'm sure many would lend a hand.

Just call to Moab and order a new sensor. Install it when you're up there. Wouldn't stop me but I am a bit reckless I suppose.

    True true good points
Haha yea I could gamble that. Hell I could swap it out in vegas or St. George too. Just a tad bit concerned as the temp gauge spiked earlier

Also I have a stock FJ Cruiser at home that I’m probably just going to swap all my camping gear to then deal with the taco after the trip :anonymous:

Wait, are you monitoring your temps via gauge?

You need to use your OBD tool.

That gauge is a dummy gauge and it'll easily give you false readings (good or bad) while your actual engine temps could be altogether different.

Your ECT sensor up front is what reads actual temps, and that signal is sent to your ECM and available via OBD.

The gauge receives its signal from a sender at the rear of the engine, as it's a single wire plug that's worthless.

Sounds good man! I've already done quite a bit of grinding outside of their cuts but will just continue to chop away at it!

I wishhh it was manual. This one is an 07, I think?, with about 130k on it. Picked it up under 12 to flip it. So many scratches hah

Huh didn’t know that. I’ll keep an eye on the obd temp when I get the truck rolling

Your temp worked due to the bad sensor reading is my guess. Otherwise, if the fluids in the engine, your WP is turning I wouldn't worry much.

Yeah that sender communicates with the gauge.

The sensor communicates with the computer and OBD.

I missed what you said about the engine code but if I were you, I would monitor temps via OBD only.

If your ECT sensor was having an issue, most likely it would run as if it was cold and dumping a lot of fuel followed by a high idle.

Do you think it matters a lot of I can’t get them absolutely perfect? I mean I’ll get them closer but I’m not sure what a “safe” margin of error is. There’s a lot of variables with suspension so I doubt I’d be able to notice it much

I'm only a welder, gaining experience as a fabricator (mostly things outside trucks).

With that said, I would ask the suspension gurus regarding that difference in your rear axle.

Personally I don't believe anything to be absolutely and perfectly square, as much as we'd want it to be, but if I were you, I would grind/bevel what was needed to get that 1/4" of room to move the bracket over.

Not sure what you said cutting away though. You can easily remove 1/4" from any piece within seconds and be done.

That’s a sigh of relief thanks
Actually I did have a pending code 171, system running lean bank 1. Kinda glad to hear it’s most likely just a bad sensor.
My butt might be a little less puckered watching the temps on the way home haha thanks

McDonald’s offer a lot of build options. Even a standard issue 4dr jeep can be chosen for a happy meal.
