I'm planning on installing one of those Spacer block lifts 3 inch front 2 inch rear on my Tacoma but I'm worried with the added weight of the topper on the back it will look squatted after being leveled. Anyone have a similar setup as the one I have planned? Not sure if I'm going to keep the topper forever either, might sell it in the near future.

Are you talking about an actual camper (400+ lbs) or the 250-300lb fiberglass shell that you have on there?

Install leaf pack, or add a leaf. Also suggest not going 3" in front. These truck don't like anything much over 2" You will run into alot of problems. Plenty of threads on this subject.

Yeah, if you level the truck and then put a camper on the back it will definitely squat. I’m saying this assuming you have stock leaf springs.

Also, if you do have stock leaf springs, putting a block back there and then all that weight on top will ruin those leaf springs really fast. I’d recommend a new leaf pack in the back instead of a block if you plan on adding weight like that.

Suggest you make your decision on keeping or losing the shell before you work on the suspension. I went through two sets of springs front and back because I kept adding things or needed more capacity than I originally planned.

If you go new leaf packs, @memario1214 can hook you up with some Icon RXTs. I love mine on option 3 with a shell.

Just the shell in the picture, I included it so that you can visually get an idea of where it sits right now.

If I don't have the weight then should I be fine?

Yeah I would say it would be okay. I ran a 1” block on the rear before I got my ARE shell and the stock leaf springs weren’t deformed when I took the block out and installed the Icon add a leaf.

I installed the Add a Leaf at the same time as my ARE shell.

Are you guys saying that a truck topper will sag the stock leaf springs?

Im saying that if you put a block under the stock leaf springs and then add a lot of weight on top (a permanent heavy load like a GFC plus gear), it might deform/flatten the springs.

I am just now reading the OP’s post saying that he was only talking about the camper shell in the first photo. That would probably be fine but I don’t have any personal experience with that setup (blocks under leaf springs + camper shell) since I installed the Icon AAL when I installed my ARE shell.

One consideration is that there are much better choices for a lift.

Leveling lifts are for mall crawlers. The rake is there for bed loading.

I have an ARE camper shell on order that should be shipping from the factory this week. The weight of an ARE CX series topper is 165 lbs for a short bed and 185 lbs for a long bed. My suspension is stock with the stock rake so since I'm basically adding 100 lbs additional weight above my BakFlip that I have now so I'm going to leave the suspension alone. We will see what happens over time but for now it should be fine.
