Especially when you consider the price difference is less than 2 grand.

Definitely. In 2016 I went with the SR5 partially because it was a larger gap. $2600. But what the difference is now you might as well go with the off-road.

The sr5 has become busier with options as the generation progressed. It started with barely more than the sr.

Neither do I. I love have the start buttons and not having to fish keys out of my pocket after getting in the truck to start it up.

I was wondering what PTS was...lol!

Yeah, I love the Push-To-Start (PTS) on my 2021 Sport.

Our first experience with PTS was with my wife's 2017 Elantra.

Come to find out, having that button along with the FOB is (somewhat) of a deterrent for hot-wiring. (It's an engine kill switch application)

I actually have dual zone climate control on my SR5, never really use it though.

Yeah my 17 OR has the manual HVAC setup. I believe dual zone was added to all V6's in '20 or so.

I don't care for dual climate which is I why I avoided it when buying in '16.

Agreed, it just happened to be on the truck that had everything I wanted/needed. The wife doesn’t even use it, she just slams the vents shut lol keepin’ it old school.

2k can be a dealer maker especially if your on a budget. I’m totally happy with my SR5
Could i afford OR ? Yes. But I hate the black fender flares. My SR5 rides nice. I had to wait 4 months for a red one. It’ll suit my needs haul my utv Ranger hunting and hopefully my deer home. Occasional tan bark, Home Depot stuff and luggage on family trips.

    Yes
Get the sr5. Then later you can add: the skoop, the lift, the wheels, the tires, the grill, the lights, the harness for the lights, the signal mirrors, the fender flares, the touches make it yours. IMG_20230531_204140.jpg IMG_20230513_064814.jpg

2014 Tacoma SR5 4x4 DC SB V6 AT Tow Pkg Entune+ Mostly stock with a few OEM mods.
Stock (99.999%) OEM Bed Floor Mat, Front Bed Rail Cargo Net and hooks, Auto-Dim mirror w/Compass and outside Temperature display, TRD Pro Grille, Uni-Filter air pump modification, WeatherTech floor liners f/r. OEM All-Weather floor mats (summer).
I'm 2nd Gen, but was in the same position when I was looking for my truck. I think it applies to all years. I took off to look at two trucks: a 2014 SR5 and an OR. Mileage within a few thousand of each other. I test drove the OR first. I wanted: 4x4 V6 DC AT SB Tow Pkg. That really was all that was mandatory for me. Nice nice truck. Clean, good frame, everything worked. It was priced fairly. My trade was priced fairly. But it would have been a stretch (more expensive than the SR5 and I had this voice in my head that I would probably never use all the nice extra features it came with.) Maybe never push any of those buttons again. 4x4 mandatory, but mainly for snow and ice and beat up muddy sections of the FS and State fire roads in Maine and New Hampshire. Didn't really need the OR suite.

Then I went to check out the SR5. Same as above but priced less. Trade offer was within 1K of the other place. I already knew it came with automatic electronic LSD and with the the Tow Package: auto electronic trailer sway control. I needed that and the hitch, and really wanted all of the other HD upgrades that came with the tow package.... Nice vs Need. Truck has been prefect for me. The only thing that holds it back are the tires. Never heard of them, but they were new. They're on the list. The only mods I have done are the Uni-Filter an Auto-Dim mirror with outside temp and compass display and an aftermarket PRO grille for the retro look.
