Why are hoses and pipes and clamps not covered under warranty?

It amazes me how some dealerships will out and out lie in order not to perform warranty work. As others have said, I would go elsewhere. When you make the appointment just tell them you have a coolant leak on a 2022 truck with 10k miles and leave it at that. Seems like your selling dealer is one of those that will avoid warranty work at all cost.

It's a joke that there is no recourse for dealers who straight up lie. Why do we tolerate this antiquated dealer model? I understand the pros of it but it seems all the cons are passed on to the consumer. Just like with insurance company payouts, this is why you exist, why do I need to fight you to get what I paid for?

I had my brake rotors resurfaced at 15k and the dealer did it under warranty with no questions asked. He said it was excessive wear. It didn’t fix the problem but the point is that a hose shouldn’t be leaking at 10k and most reasonable dealers know that. I’d go elsewhere.

There is recourse, but one method is hit or miss and the other is too expensive to be practical. After going to the dealership service manager and the general manager, and getting no satisfaction, you can call Toyota corporate. The warranty is issued by the manufacturer. Whether or not they will actually do anything is a crap shoot, as is how long it will take. If that doesn't work, you can file suit against the dealership and the manufacturer for breach of warranty. Odds are very high however that your legal fees will quickly exceed the cost of the repair, making this a financially impractical option.

You're right, it sucks that you have to fight to get something you paid for, but it's the nature of some businesses since they know that it's too expensive for you to fight. You need to find a place that actually cares about customer satisfaction and deal with them.

Went through this with my 2006 Colorado, oddly dealers don't know anything about the basic or "secret" warranty that I found in 3 minutes online. This was further debunked when corporate told me they're aware. I asked them to explain why the dealer said the polar opposite and "umm err IDK, but it's still your tough shit"

Went through a similar thing with a stereo shop who was a certified Alpine dealer when my 3 day old CD player wouldn't load a disc. "Oh you must have wired it wrong, that's your problem" when I said it wasn't working. My response "the rest of my sentence is the disc won't load". I was told call the manufacturer and we don't have anymore of that radio to swap anyway. Called Alpine the next day and they said as a dealer that's their job to take it and return to Alpine. The rep said he was going to educate the shop owner, as I suggested that it's definitely bad business if they represent your product this way. What do you know, the next day the shop magically had a dozen of those radios.

Hence why at least if you call corporate and enough others do so, eventually something will have to be done. Dealers like that represent the brand poorly.

Not a long ago, one member had an oil cooler exploded on him. It was not covered under 5/60K . I believe the dealer met him in the middle after a few back and forth.

Normally they are. I don't know what Toyota does.

If a part relates to the function of the engine, and is critical for proper operation of the engine, as well as emissions, which requires proper operation
and not a consumable wear component like tires or brake pads

that would make it an engine component
    such as a coolant hose
