Who’d much rather have a simple, compact, no frills 4x4 pickup?

I have a SR, do like all the electronic Gee-gaws. A lot more options that are standard that my 1G TRD never had. Do wish it had rubber floors and vinyl seats though, because I still use it as truck, always tend to be cover in dirt, mud, blood and sawdust. Little concrete now and then too. Occasionally cow shit… :)

And your first gen Tacoma is far more complex than the previous generation. ECU, fuel injection, more sensors etc. Your truck was modern and complex at the time it was released. It’s almost like technology advances and gets better over time. Spark plugs, air filters and oil changes are all you need to do to engines these days and they last forever. Sensors and electronics keep them running at optimal optimal conditions increasing their lifespan and requiring less care. You don’t have to mess with carburetors, manually advance timing, bring distilled water with you when you cross Death Valley because your radiator boiled over. You’ll see third gens on the road 20 years from now, just like 2nd gens and 1st gens.

I had to wash away my techno bro sins. Sat in my 95YJ stripped down to Willis style.
Didn’t work… started thinking about the 99 TJ features.
I suppose I need new avatar on Meta…
