Anyone with balancing issues? Just mounted and balanced mine with 285//75/17 ko2 and one wheel wanted 9lbs the other wanted 12lbs

 

Lbs. or ounces? Out of my five, same wheel (not the HD version) and tire combo one required no weights and the one that needed the most weight only needed 2.5oz.

 

I just got a set of 705s and the tire balancing was insane, my wheels are plastered with weights. New Cooper Rugged Treks 285/70R17. I'm not sure if it was a wheel issue or a tire issue but I'm surprised to see any combo needing this much weight. There's so much shiny weight on the inside of the wheel, my girlfriend though I was proposing.

 

Anyone broken a bead on these? What psi are you running?

 

I would bet it is the Coopers and the lack of skill by the individual who balanced them. I have 701's BFG KO2's 285/75/17 "E" load rating and of the five of them the one that needed the most weight only needed 0.5oz. two of them required 0.

 

Method has been testing a forged version with the #41 Trophy Truck/ Justin Loften with good results. Others run down to 10psi and at times less with great results.

 

My buddy has, i think around 10psi. Think he bent the wheel a bit too.

*edit, if i remember right he tore a valve stem again since they are in a horrible spot, then debeaded

 

Anyone running single digit air pressures?

 

I broke mine. Was running it at 8 PSI. Also forgot to turn on my front locker and gave it a full send up a rut.

 

I run mine at 8 psi all the time. Just this one time being a bonehead.

 

If I can run 8 psi without breaking a bead then I think this would be worth it to swap wheels.

 

so what is 8-10psi the limit? Is it worth it/how much ground clearance do you lose when the tire deflates like that?
Though it's probably better traction...
last time I aired down to 17/18 psi on a trail, tire was still slipping...

 

8psi gang (usually between 20 and 8psi) I’m rolling on 704’s 16” never had any issues.

 

I’m usually around 10-12 with standard wheels. I want to go lower and have some confidence I won’t blow a bead. Someone on YouTube says he went to zero snow wheeling and didn’t have a problem. Don’t think I’ll be doing that.

I think snow wheeling is different but that guy has 39” tires. This video shows dude running his wheels at a pretty decent PSI but he kept losing air. They talked about how maybe there’s just not enough meat on the tires. I run 37’s so mine can take more side load. https://youtu.be/pAVZGNT5zGU

 

Method has these wheels that combine both beadlocks and beadgrips. Steep price though!
