Spark plug gapping?

Well, it's time for the 30k plug swap. I got some Autolite Irridiums. I can't seem to find out how much gapping an 06 prerunner sport is supposed to get. Not in owners manual, and I can't find it in the repair manual Tacomaman07 gave me. I know it's in there, but anyone know off the top of their head?

 

.044? Why Autolite and not NGK or Denso plugs? Hope those plugs work for you.

 

I just got the Autolight iridium XPs cause those were the best ones Kragen had. They say they fit my year truck. Im going to put them in this weekend. Ill tell you how they feel.

 

if the autolite's make your truck run kinda crappy, and you'll be able to tell pretty quickly....switch over to denso. for some reason, they run better in these trucks.

O.K., WTF? first off, I trust chis4x4 on the gapping he told me. I just called the dealership to verify and they said the gapping was .032? I asked "thats for the v6 right?" the guy said he was positive. I then called up Kragen, whare I got the plugs, they said .044. Chris4x4 said .039-.043. What the crap? I think I will go around .041? Anyone have any more input?

 

chris is correct..................and setting the plugs at.041 will be a good middle ground. they guys at the stealerships never know what they are talking about!! on the 06 i previously had, and the 04 i have now...............i gapped mine to .041, and everything is fine!!

 

Thats what I figured was going on. They try to get me to F my truck up so they get some buisness. I "was" getting my oil changed at the dealership. When I bought my truck I got this oil changes for life thing for $10 bucks a month till my truck is paid off. Thought it was a good deal, but like four times in a row they over serviced it. Working on jet engines I have seen what over serviced components do, and had to change them, damn crew cheifs! I swear Lithia Toyota of Vacaville is the most shady bunch-o-F***ers in the world!!!

 

somethings are better left to do yourself man!!! i avoid the dealership for as much as i possibly can....................i like working on my own stuff.

 

Ya, I feel like a wuss not changing my own oil, I just moved into a house with a garage, but the room mates beer pong table and a mountain of crap is in there. And I don't want to change it in the street with cars going by and kids running around. Had to go over to buddy's house to put my Icons and UCAs on. He is deployed right now, going to have to do the plugs in the street. oh well

 

dont feel bad...............when i had my 06...i was doing oil changes at the dealership for the tires for life program....then i figured out how shitty the stock tires were, and started changing it all myself after that. and thats the only reason i was letting the dealer do the oil changes. i live in a condo complex..................and they look at ya weird(old people) when you work on cars/trucks, but over the past 3 or 4 years...they have gotten used to me working on stuff here.
