    Lol, that’s nasty.

Being new here I was gonna ask if we really need to keep any eye out for creepy crawlies or if you hardly come across them? Do you let your dogs run off leash or keep them close? Mainly talking about PHX, South and West mountains I guess.

I did google what nasties are potentially around.

Depends on how you react to them too.

Bee stings mess me up bad cause I’m allergic to them but getting tagged by centipedes doesn’t bother me much o_O

Well.... between the content in the recent posts and what I saw when I walked a friend out to her car last night (black widow suspended in its web a foot off the ground from one of the pillars of my porch and about 3 feet from we were standing), I went ahead and sprayed the outside of the casa. I've been bit by two of them nasty fuckers before, and it is for sure something I don't want to repeat. It sucked shit.

That's what I thought. My son said it was a cinnamon black bear. Either way he's savaging because of our encroachment.

Weekend in Sedona was fun! Rented a place in Chapel, got a few miles on the mountain bikes around Broken Arrow trail. Didn't take many photos but learned a new lesson in wheelin as a new driver:censored:. After a great start on Broken Arrow trail and creeping up to Submarine rock for some views, we then made our way to Mushroom rock and driving up the next obstacle. 4lw with too much grippy and no slippy with get you every time. I should have known better but I'll play the rookie mistake card and just leave this as a reminder! CV is a weak link, wasn't even doing cool shit when it snapped. Tight turn going slow in 4lw on red rock..

Absolutely! Weather, location, and company was pretty much the best. Helped calm the panic so I could focus on the solution.

Was the solution to simply remove the axle?

EDIT: just looked at the photos closer, did you have a spare axle?

If you destroy a CV then yes, you want to remove the busted one and then put a new one in there. You do not want to drive without one, as the CV is one of the things that keeps the oil in your front diff.

As mentioned below, if you don't have a spare you need to butcher the busted CV and leave the one end of the CV in the front diff. The downside of this is that you disable 4wd in your truck.

Yep! I had a spare on hand if needed 4x to get home. This round I left both end in the diff and hub and drove out.
    Edit for info
You need the shaft on the hub end to keep it all together and attached to the spindle. I left the diff shaft in to keep from loosing oil. Diff side has a retaining clip on the shaft. As a PITA itself it stayed.
