Worked on finishing our garden patio so we can enjoy the space. At grade deck was the way we went.

While we were working my 3 year old son raided the garden eating all the ripe tomatoes and corn.

Built another bed today. 4'x10'x14". 3 more to go. Started on the second.
Next step is to line the inside with landscaping fabric, gravel and dirt.

My wife and I are fairly new to gardening and are getting a stupid late start, especially for relocating the garden this year. So I have a question as to which of these 4 composts would be best, and maybe second best just incase they are out of one, to add to a new food plot that is to get planted immediately. The soil is tilled and look very blah and light colored so I dont think its very nutrient packed soil. D590A131-8B21-4055-A96C-B30D10154907.jpg

I had a similar experience. Soaked overnight but didn't germinate. I got another different variety and planted 2 week later and they are thriving. Early girl tomato's are earning their reputation.

Decided to try something with my berry bushes that I saw on YouTube about dramatically increasing your yield of berries. After this years green canes get about 3 or 4 feet tall you snip the top off, it is suppose to stop growing vertically at that point but instead will start growing lateral branches. To my surprise there are a bunch of lateral stems starting and each of those branches will produce berries next year!

It works. I discovered it by accident 2 years ago. Some of the canes were 6 ft long, so I snipped them. They branched out.
It works on Primacanes too, and gives more berries same year.

It works on most plants. I have had particularly good luck with the large rhododendron bushes.

Yep, similar on roses also. Once the petals start falling cut off the flower back at first or second leaf closest to flower and the keep flowering all season. We are one about 3rd flowering so far.

Years ago when I first started dating my wife I went over to meet her family for the first time and my now wife volunteered me to prune some lilacs for my future mother-in-law. I took one look at them and they were not very healthy. The had never been pruned, had poor overall shape, very few blooms, lots of old growth and dead pieces. I told my future MIL that I would happily prune the lilacs for her but they would not look very good after I finished and probably not the next year either but in 4-5 years she would have a wonderfully shaped bush that would produce many more blooms. She gave me the go ahead and I pruned the bush pretty hard, to the point I was quickly labeled a plant murderer. But, true to my word the plant came back gangbusters and looks amazing even now, pretty close to 10 years later. Since then I have "murdered" quite a few more bushes and trees but each time they have come back and looked much better than before pruning. My MIL still has a shocked expression on her face after she first sees a bush after a drastic prune but she now trusts me when I say that the plant will look much better and be much healthier a few years after pruning.

It is the same Primacane that I have. It grows like crazy in GA climate, with 6ft+ long canes, that's what started me on the pruning adventure.

Do you have your bushes trellised? They need extra support when are loaded with berries.
Plus with a right trellise, you can throw bird netting over the whole set up.
