Yeah a mud/water hole would be my only concern as well, but trail running I've gone solo tons of times.

There's nothing wrong with bypassing said mud/watethole though. No need to get yourself unnecessarily stuck.

On the plus side, you could use it up front or in the rear

We're still talking about winches right?

How much do you enjoy wrangling 100lbs of metal and its associated electrical wires while your truck is in a mud hole?

Here’s another view. Does it look like a diseased hole to y’all?

just keep the intake side higher above the water line if you can, the crossing at the end of Mojave Road is the only way through to the end of the trail without illegally cutting through the marsh or backtracking 15ish miles. Before I had a snorkel on my last MR trip, the water crossing was deeeeeep so I rode the right side of it to keep the intake above water.

then I smacked a rock or root or something and nearly toppled the truck, windows were down it would have been bad lol....pic is right when I smacked said underwater rock

word is this crossing is filled in with gravel now thanks to some construction company that was working on the railroad bridge that runs above this section, they were supposed to remove it but never did I don't think

Ehh. I’m trying to keep away from having to keep a winch (or anything else trip-specific) on my vehicle 24/7 when I’m realistically only going to need it a few times a year.

I was in the grocery store this AM walking through the cleaning products aisle and just chuckling at all the bleach and sanitizing solutions that you can buy in bulk now, shit was rarer than gold in 2020

Well, like my locking hubs, it would be set up at the trailhead. Which raises other problems of course. I feel like a receiver mount that was recessed as much as possible and kept to a minimum depth would be ideal.
