Not to mention that here in Florida we also have to deal with the SE Toyota Mafia. Can't finance with TFS or buy a real Toyota extended warranty through your dealer, and you have to pay for overpriced crap like $700 for Toyogard Platinum, all in addition to the dealer fees.

New 4x4 manuals are at times hard to find and also at times hard to sell. I purchased my 22 TRD OR DCSB 4x4 at the end of the month (4/22)... dealer called me 3x before we agreed on the OTD price of $42k. And this included $3800 in MSRP options. Walk if you have the time...

Actually waited, have 3 my youngest is 13 so every now and then I have a passenger. Not often more than two.I typically keep something 8 years but plan to actually keep this more than 10,things change but that’s my plans.I have driven my 2000 4runner 8.It’s still one of the nicest around.
I have plenty of time, actually the longer I wait the more I get cold feet. Most I’ve ever contemplated spending on a vehicle.Plus a small lift, tires, topper and a few odds and ends it adds up.Lots of deals on used parts if your patient to.

Getting this in Portland Oregon - well to a diff degree - its the non negotiable StarGard inclusion for $899 which includes $100 for 'paint protection'. I looked up the hardware for stargard and it's easily under $100.

thanks for showing me that thread. i like being informed.

yea..this is unfortuanate and i feel bad for the affected.

on the grand scheme, if i was a gambling man i wouldnt put money on a new tacoma peeling. i can change colors if i wanted, and at this point i am not sure i do. odds are in my favor.

plus as far as life problems this is relatively innocuous. annoying as eff, yea. PIA, yep. but like all life problems i tackle them as they come up.

holy shit..therapy might be working!!! :D

my 2006 runs like a swiss watch. the paint started looking tattered pretty early, tho. i lived.

I did get this from AutoNation sales lady who found me a black one.
“I discussed this with my New Car Director. We can locate a gray one one in the Same Specs. What we can do is reserve this black one and lock in the price as the price between the black one and the gray one would be the same. Would you want to consider that option?”
How does reserving one work, especially when production is slowing down?

pass on it. How did it get on the auction block? Was it repossessed or is there an undisclosed issue? I would pass on any used vehicle at new vehicle price.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
What is crazy is that you can get a new crew cab 2.7 turbo 4X4 Silverado for $45k. I get it that a lot of you are Chevy haters and people like a midsize but bang for the buck. Holy shit! Drive one and you won't care about your Tacoma anymore.

Two days ago I picked up a 2023 manual off road double cab for under $40,386 ($100 below MSRP). I traded in a 2020 SR5 double cab with under 25k miles and got 31k for it.

But, as others have mentioned, I extended my search radius to 250 miles. The trick is to got to a high volume dealer that doesn’t need to squeeze the last bit of margin on a sale.

I say don’t buy it and search for a 2023 manual. They’re still out there and if you extend your search radius you might get lucky.

Sandman above nailed it, high volume dealers moving inventory is best bet. Make an offer, boom done.

How do you find the highest volume dealers?
    I’m in Oklahoma.

haggle with them and then walk when they dont give you what you want. You may get a call back. (find your own financing as the dealer financing is crap)

you may be getting a clutch thats been abused for 7k miles.

Don't settle for a color you don't like. You pay that kind of money for something, get something you like! I waited for a silver Taco. My Toyota store had tons of MGM Tacos (seems to be the most common color along with white) but our 4Runner is gray and I didn't want another gray vehicle.

Also in Oklahoma, dealers here are shitty. You're better off going to Texas (dealer fees are capped) or Illinois (for some reason they have great inventory when I was shopping). Just be willing to travel and search 500+ miles out.

I was going to say the same, but get an SR5 with tech package since he wants a lift and tires.
