I'm skipping. I personally haul more stuff than people, so I have zero interest in a double cab and need the long box. In 2016 I was disappointed that I couldn't get a third gen access cab Limited, I settled for the TRD Sport instead. The access cab is incredibly handy and I lament its passing with the fourth generation. Even if I backtracked to an extra cab like my 1987 SR5 had, the fourth generation is not offered with the hybrid powertrain, rear coil springs or the TRD Sport option packages. I'm sticking with my third gen, maybe i'll keep an eye out for a used Magnuson supercharger kit!

I had did the math. It would require me another $15K+, plus several more thousands in mods

Not worth it for a 2.4 hybrid.

If it was like the Ranger Raptor, 3.0T 405hp, I would be in it at whatever cost.

You don’t need to give me MORE reasons to want to buy G4. If it’s the last gasser, G4 is THE one to get.

I love Toyota vehicles and have been driving them for 35 years. In all that time, I have never bought back-to-back generations of any model. I was hoping the 4th Gen would change that.

At only 6000 lb towing for 4th gen, a complete joke, I seriously doubt Tundra sales will suffer.
IMO I think they will increase now.

Was thinking more of the Brolander crowd who hang just about every accessory out of a catalog on their rigs rather than towing. 1700# payload, loads of bottom end torque in the 4G is much improvement over the 3G.

That said, you may be right. Me personally at this point rather have the Tundra over the 4G. Really depends on what travel trailer I get, not sure if the Tundra even will be enough.

That and…heard on one the videos people want a luxury truck, but didn’t want a full-size either, why they went nuts on the limited. Hence the power lift tailgate (among other things) for those soft handed fellas…

I skipped the 2nd and 3rd Gen. Was early in line for a grenadier- but the numbers turned out terrible for that. Weak #3 cylinder on my 2004 1st gen, so i'm up against a wall at 350k miles. It'll be a 4th gen for me.

Don't need a double cab and lack of rear doors on the extra cab have killed it for me. I'll be happily holding onto my 21' for many years to come.

I have a 2nd gen so I skipped out of the 3rd gen because it was basically not worth 'upgrading'.

If a Tacoma came out with a 350-400 hp with torque to match with increased payload and towing capacity without using any batteries I would definitely consider buying a new Tacoma.

I never owned a Ford before, but the Ranger Raptor checks all the boxes. Wish Toyota had something similar.

I've got the 2021 Taco for the harder offroading and a 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander S-AWC for the family stuff. I'll be stuck with that loan for a good long time so I don't foresee a new truck until my 40s at this point. ha

Same, as much as I’d like to keep holding off my 06 has served me well and it’s time. Also I’ll have my second young driver in 2025 and want to avoid another round of BS finding a reliable used car like I just went through with my 16 yo and just hand the youngest something i can vouch for. So still 1.5-2 years out but it will be the 4G for sure.

I am not in love with the 3rd gen - would need extended drive time with a 4th to make that call.

Yeah, waiting until 2025 when they should be releasing a Taco PHEV, then I'll buy.

I just don't want a tubro charged 4 cylinder. Other than that fact I do like some of the new features body lines.

I'm going to be looking at a *lower* mileage 2015 tacoma trd pro. I know all these newer trucks MSRPs are going to skyrocket and I like the bulletproof powertrain of the 2nd gen and it's the last model year.

Plus it's the OG of trd pros.

Why not? It outperforms the v6 in every way
