Hey y'all. Got an inspection done on the '07 Double Cab I want to buy, and I wanted y'all's opinions on it. 190K miles, pretty clean, couple issues though.
    1) Surface rust on the frame. None that has started to cause major problems as far as I can tell, but still
    2) A/C has some issues, probably needs a new motor and some diagnostics on the temp
    3) One of the mounting brackets (back left) for the frame is nearly rusted out
    4) Spare tire and two others all need some rust cleared out
    5) There's some vibration while driving, but I don't know the cause
    6) Needs some repair to the weather stripping etc.

I've attached some pictures below, let me know what y'all think. I want to get it, but I think it's gonna end up being about $12K, and I don't know if it's worth it at that price. I appreciate the help.

I think the rust looks acceptable. You should treat it ASAP to prevent any further progression.

$12k seems like an OK price too.

That’s a little too much surface rust everywhere. Even for my Salty Canadian butt.

if you are dedicated on buying it you must deal with all that rust before it becomes a problem.

I wonder what the engine bay looks like and under the steering wheel wells

Sweet thank you. I was debating negotiating around $12K if they wire brush the frame and then seal.

Check the engine bay and remove the splash guards in the wheel well.

Those are high rust areas too but often overlooked.

I'd really like to get it, I go back to campus next week and my current car won't make the drive. Engine bay needs some new mounting brackets, but otherwise is pretty clean and everything operates well. Not sure about the steering wheel wells tho.

Yeah, the covers for the front wheels need to be replaced for sure. Almost rusted through.

Nah, one of the frame mounting brackets. I can attach a picture if you'd like.

Yeah, I'm in Maryland, but I go to school in Indiana so rust is a problem for me.

Too much rust for my peace of mind. Like others have said, if you purchase, take care of that rust asap and then fluid film it this fall and every fall thereafter.
What are the issues with the AC? Is the AC light blinking? If so, there are a few cheap and easy fixes, start with the magnetic clutch relay, if that doesn’t solve the problem, replace the AC compressor pickup sensor.

Doesn't blow very hard, and doesn't get very cool. Haven't tried the heat though. If it doesn't require the car being lifted fully off the ground I can probably do it myself.

Second this. My theory, between the heat from the catalytic convertors and the moisture that gets trapped in the frame, it has a tendency to rust up fast and produce holes.

There will be some rust unless it came from Vegas or Arizona

    pinstripes. lots of pinstripes.
The amount of rust on the frame doesn't look like it matches the amount on the spare tire.

I'd ask them to put on a lift and get under there with some glasses and poke all the important sections of the frame to assess it.
