Cleaned the MAF and threw on a Lostar knock off skid plate.

 

Water is a byproduct of combustion. Rusted out exhaust systems are a result of running an engine for such a short period of time, before shutting it down, that the exhaust system does not reach a temperature high enough to keep it in the state of being a gas which is what it is when it exits the combustion chamber of an engine. When first started, the cold exhaust system causes the gas (water vapor) to condense, meaning it becomes a liquid as it cools while traveling through the cold exhaust system.

It is not at all uncommon to see water coming our of the exhaust pipe of an auto when it is first started and moving down the road prior to reaching "operating temperature".

If the engine is turned off while that water is in the exhaust system, it just sits there and, you got it, instant rust.

Doing this frequently and often is a sure fire way of destroying an engine and exhaust system; this, meaning starting and engine and shutting it down prior to it reaching "operating temperature"..

 

Was one with nature for a week.

 

My blinker fluid was a bit low as well.

 

I try not to do it very often, but when I'm working on it and need to turn the wheels its on and off a few times. But I take the long way to my office each morning to make sure it reaches temp. (It's a mile from my house). I'll have the exhaust shop take a look at it when I get my custom exhaust made.

Re-attached the back corner of my Trail Toys gas tank skid with paracord. The strap buckle was just getting punched by my Deavers during the uptravel, and didn't even make it down a gravel road before falling off. The paracord, on the other hand, handled multiple water crossings, rock crawling, and 50+ mph on washboard like a champ, and is still in place and tight. 10/10, would tie again.

 

Hahhaha! Yeah I got a nice parking spot at a cabin on the river between VA and MD. Deer, foxes, snakes and raccoons everywhere. We also saw two black bear on the side roads. They were dead though. Hit by cars.

 

Yesterday I did 5 1/2 quarts of Mobil 1 and a Toyota filter. I also chose to perform a Fumoto valve delete mod and went back to a factory bolt and washer. I got tired of the little black clip getting sucked up into a black hole everytime I tried to remove it.

Oil change and new filter (love the fumuto valve), transfer case oil change, greased zerks, cleaned air filter and PCV replacement.

Part 2 when I get more time.

Spark plugs, tire rotation, coolant flush.

Also waiting for the rest of my parts to come in for my Atoto A6 radio

 

Got my Memorial Day purchase mounted up. Should be way nicer than the $25 3 gallon shower bag Ive been hanging at camp for years.
