In addition to that, seafoam is meant to be evaporated in your engine cylinders. You do not want it in your oil.

 

I think bypassing the actual valve and depending on vacuum to the intake would be the reason to use that hose. Just saying...

...seafoam to the intake is introducing the aerosol spray to the fuel intake, not oil. No, don't flood the running engine or one risks hydrolock.

 

My PCV looks like it may need to be replaced as well, and then I found this problem right next to it. Do you guys know what this wiring is?

 

I'm thinking knock sensor harness although I could be completely wrong. And if I am, I hope somebody else chimes in with the correct answer.

Hello all. New to the forum. Believe it or not I’m a little young for forums and didn’t know if these were still active. I have been experiencing some very slight oil consumption. Not even a whole quart between 5k interval oil changes. No smoke, no smell, no leaks. I unfortunately have a disease where I enjoy oil drinking VWs and Audis and recently got rid of my a4 avant that had bad piston rings. Still mad about it too, I loved that car. Now that I have my Tacoma I’m frantically searching for why I loose my engine juice because of my previous Audi scars. I just replaced my pcv for a bank breaking 4 dollars from autozone. The old pcv had the white top so I assume it was the OEM one possibly the original one in the truck… I don’t smell oil like previously mentioned so can someone back me up in thinking this isn’t my valve cover gasket? Very clean engine bay, 183,000 miles, I use 5W-30

The only thing that can consume oil is your combustion chamber through your head gasket or piston rings

 

first thing I replaced was my radiator when I got the truck. It never ran hot but it had a small crack at the top end so it needed a fresh one. My head gaskets should be fine. I’ll just assume it’s the older piston rings. Like I said I’m barely loosing oil in the first place. I’m just jittery from my Audi. Cheers

 

Masonite in my experience with 2 3.4s they don't consume or loose much oil in between oil changes, now a 5.3 GM V8...... that thing used a quart of oil between oil changes. I literally have never added oil to my truck, dipstick always the same level. I hope I did't jinx myself. My truck only has 118,000 though its still young.

 

On a well maintained 3.4L with only 183K, the likelihood of oil consumption from blow by is very low.

Oil leaks from the valve covers is the most common problem which may not always be smelled but is usually pretty visually obvious. Any oil stains under the truck? In particular, from the area between the engine and transmission?
