How many days off work, all travel expenses, inspecting vehicle only to find problem(s) and not having a repour with your local dealer are other things to consider.

I am talking new vehicles, I saved just under $3,000 off MSRP on my truck. Local dealer was at MSRP plus $800. One way plane ticket to Chicago was $275, hotel for 1 night was $75, fuel was $75, food was $50. I went on a Friday after work, no missed time. So all in all $475 in expenses to save $3,325 after that.

    Regarding the white paint issue.
It doesn’t matter what vehicle you buy,if you look hard enough there will trouble.
GM half ton front wheel bearings,GM oil consumption issues, any Subaru wheel bearings ,CVT’s,Fords eco boost engine issues ,Volvo oil consumption, the list goes on and on.
Every manufacturer has its own issues.

Hard pass. That’s way too much and vehicles are depreciating assets, not investments. Save the $, invest it short term and make some $$$ until the market shifts back (hopefully) to a somewhat normal state…these crazy prices are for the emotionally charged right now…just saying

have you considered waiting for a used 2024?…may be a while but it will be a more powerful truck with the 4cyl turbos

Volume dealers are EASY. Toyota of Clovis emailed me a proposal minutes after inquiring and explained that the interest rate in the offer is just a placeholder would be a little high until they ran my credit for the deal. Even with interest rate as modeled, the numbers looked really good.

It was soooo easy compared to some of the shenanigans smaller dealers gave me.

A good high volume dealer will generally be easier to deal with. So put your search radius out to 500 miles.

    Whats texas largest dealers?
    Is there a list published?

Just had a dealer in Colorado message me on one coming in but sense it’s a rare vehicle it would be 5k over msrp.
    Told her to buzz off.

You survived so far; so, just wait until you find something close to your needs.

That's why your wife needs a family vehicle, so you can have a truck. Son grew up in a 2nd gen regular cab.

OP - I'd hold off on both if you don't NEED a truck right now. See what happens this fall.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
Yeah, wife had a 4Runner at the time. But I don’t like having a vehicle that I can’t use depending on who is going.

Toyota of Clovis is a relatively small dealership but they are part of the Penske Group of Toyota dealers so they operate on Volume.

Longo is also a volume dealer and they are BIG.

So physical size is not a precise indicator

Maybe I missed it in all the pages, but do I have this right? Truck bought at auction ends up at a skeezy arm of a group that includes a Toyota dealer? If it was so creampuff, why didn't the honest to goodness Toyota dealer take it?
