The Tacoma CLEARLY was brake-checking...not just hitting-the-brakes. We know this because in the vid, he swerved/cut-off the camera car then sank the front of his truck down as he braked ridiculously hard. In my mind, the guy is a criminal.

I can see this from 2 perspectives:
-Tacoma driver intentionally a d-bag, cut off camera car and brake checked, meaning theres probably more to the story camera car conveniently left out

OR, the probably more likely scenario
-Tacoma was completely unaware the camera car was there, in its blind spot. It moved over (cut off camera car) to make its exit, camera car moved over to avoid collision, and Tacoma never knew it was there at all. Tacoma see's workers and decides to give them room/get over, and realizes halfway through move to farthest left lane that he's cutting someone off, freaks out, hits brakes, trying to get back to original lane, and camera car decided it was a better idea to hit the parked van (that he should've seen 1/2 mile back, so long as he wasn't playing dick measuring with the truck in the moments leading up) instead of potentially making contact with the truck.

Either scenario, regardless of tacoma being reckless, camera car wasn't aware of the workers, and is extremely lucky no one was injured.

Well, his light on his side view was on indicating a vehicle where he was changing lanes (on both occasions)

Yeah I noticed that. But he obviously didn't pay attention to it, just like the countless other drivers on the road with blind spot detection who wreck daily. I'm not saying this is what happened, I'm just assuming its the most likely scenario. And if its not, that means the camera car conveniently left out the events leading up to it, in which case, maybe he got what he was asking for :notsure:

Looks like idiots in both vehicles to me though.

As someone who works in the highway construction industry, people really are in their own little worlds when they drive, which is terrifying. We average about one work zone crash statewide (Wisconsin) every 4 hours during construction season (April - October). I thankfully haven't had any super close calls, but we went through some safety training a few weeks ago where everyone in attendance was asked to tell a story about work zone safety. Only a few new hires in attendance that had never been in the field didn't have at least one harrowing experience that required diving in a ditch to avoid certain death.

I wish there were more strict requirements on licensing (at 16 years old) and repeat classes to renew your license (every 5 years) and much harsher penalties for this kind of shit (license revoked, indefinitely). Driving isn't a right, it's a privilege, and one that way too many people abuse, especially when it's so easy to take a life in a 2 ton vehicle moving at highway speeds. I much prefer working on projects closed to traffic (local roads, bridges, etc.) but even then people are fucking wild and do whatever they want.

The amount of people driving with their faces buried in their phones everywhere is scary. Another little sign that society is collapsing. Plan accordingly…

Would be great if roads could be closed for construction. There really could be better planning on major roadways for construction, like building alternative roads so traffic can still move. These are major thoroughfares to begin with. With better roadways and better engineering and planning to accommodate traffic. I think a lot of societal problems might just be alleviated by better roadways.

There seems to be more and more people on the side of the road today, and along the shoulder of the highway. Most likely on the phone. That really should be addressed, if you don't need to be on the side of the road you really shouldn't be there.

We can't fix the roads fast enough so we need to build new roads to fix the old roads? Are you with the government?

Actually, yes. but this is to supersede any governmental idea. That's the problem, can't fix the roads fast enough. The roads are already under capacity before they open back up after getting upgraded to handle the amout of traffic they see. There are no feasible ways that I have seen to create safe workzones while accommodating the traffic flow. There is plenty of funding that goes to other things that aren't transportation related, that accomplishes nothing in return. When that money could be better utilized in road construction.

    Yikes.

It's hard to say from the video, because we are not seeing the incident from behind, and only from the in-dash recording of the overtaken vehicle. Another likely scenario is that after the brake check, the camera vehicle tried to brake and oversteer at the same time, causing the rear wheels to break traction and skid out and lose control. IF that was the case, it would only amplify the exaggerated steering input the camera vehicle had initiated. What a mess. I hope no one was seriously injured.

A quote that I try to remember when someone cuts me off... Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and win with experience.

The Tacoma owner should receive no less than 29 years to life in jail. He should additionally be castrated in order to not breed any human beings that could possibly be like him.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
Of course, we don't know what actions preceded the video segment that we see.
Perhaps dash can guy pulled some sh***y stuff that triggered the brake test. Given the reaction to the brake test, the driver is not too observant or just far too aggressive (and stupid).
