Door sill paint quality

Are all 4 the same?

 

My subaru does not appear to have this

 

Is the there a paint edge? Like you can physically feel a paint line edge? Does it go all the way around the door opening?

 

I think it's normal. My 2017 has that same line on both back door sills.

 

I’ll look at mine tomorrow,but I believe my access cab has that line

 

Rub some dirt on it or install stick on Toyota door sill protector

 

Yes, such a highly visible area to be concerned about paint appearance!
As long as it's durable, does it really matter?
Never really looked at mine.

I get where you're coming from but honestly, it's very minor compared to what you're getting. This Tacoma will hold up past the exterior paint. If the issue was on the exterior, then I would agree with you on this one.

 

Paint is fine, that's under the paint.

 

You got your truck for $45k? Toyota's average selling price across all models (including Yaris and Corollas) last year was $50k...

But yeah get some sill covers if you plan to keep the truck for more than a few years.

Those sill appliques are the first thing I put on after I took delivery.

If these lines bother you, you're probably gonna find a lot more things that are "wrong".

 

I definitely don’t love it. It’s so soft you can scratch it with your fingernail.

It’s a mass produced truck. There will be tiny imperfections in the paint and everything else.

 

Whatever you do, don't check the level of your hitch...
