Yeah thats kinda where I am at is the fitment part. I have found one in in Rancho cordova near sacramento off a totaled truck but would end up costing me closer to a grand to buy and ship or drive up there.

 

To maybe ease your mind, I recently shipped a full 3rd gen tailgate to a guy in NH.

This is how I packaged it and it arrived in perfect shape:

3" thick medium density foam from a Pelican Case taped to the corners.

4 layers of bubble wrap and that thin shrink wrap stuff.

Total cost from AZ to NH was $155 fyi.

 

Reminds me of a time I sold a stock Electra Glide seat to a guy in CA.... went to a UPS store with the seat and because the box was gonna be large, they quoted $190. I about fell the fuck over! They claimed that all packages are given a weight by the size of the box. Then I was told if I made a custom sized box around the dimensions of the seat it would only cost about $100.

Went to the post office.... $26 insured.

 

Yeah I am just nervous about ebay sellers shipping. Had a head for my motor shipped to me in a over sized box with some air pocket packets. Fucker was so loose in it it showed up completely unusable. I am going to roll the dice tho and see what happens. Honestly anything will be better than the current tailgate. And it is getting wrapped and hidden behind the dual swing out so a small ding isnt going to bother me.

 

fucking 190?!?!? Damn.

 

Right? I forgot what weight they said for the dimensions, but it was a big number... a lot more than the seat weighed.

 

Yeah, it's hard to trust folks. I bought a difficult to find transmission for an old BMW of mine like ten years ago. Paid the guy good money for shipping too, because I needed it to arrive in good shape.

He just put it in an oversized plastic bin. No packing, insulation, nothing. It got banged around and arrived with busted mounts on the main casing. It cost me the price of the transmission to have a guy weld the cast aluminum pieces back together. I messaged the seller and told him he was a ****sucker.

 

I need to get a new seat. I am so tired of having the road sofa on it. Looks so big and I usually dont have my wife with me so something with a smaller profile would be great. But how much they cost just gets me to keep putting it off.

 

Makes me wonder what people think when doing that shit. "yeah this will be fine"

 

Ok so said fuck it and ordered. We will see how it works out.

that was you? had i known that i woulda dropped if off a second story balcony a time or two before shipping it to ya, sounds like it arrived in better shape than i intended.

On a side note but related. I had a old customer of mine text me yesterday cause she was finally supposed to move into the freshly remodeled home up here and wow the contractor fucked it up! She is so pissed and saddened by the whole thing. But he got his money and was just rushing. The finishing work just is terrible. Its at the point she is filing a ROC complaint.

My last HD was a 2012 Road King.... And I still have a C&C 2 piece seat with a matching pillion backrest if you're interested. Twin cam 103, yeah?

I held onto it thinking I may go back to an FLH model, but if I go back to a Harley, it'll likely be a Low Rider ST.

 

Hey guys, got two questions for you. Does anyone know where I can get the springs on my coilovers replaced? Wanting to go to a 650lb spring. Secondly, where to go to get a bumper powder coated? I contacted a shop but they quoted $600 and it seemed outrageous.

Might skip on the powder coat and just save the money on some rattle cans though.. Touch ups on powder coat never match and will never be the same. My 2cents!

 

I also vote for just rattle canning a bumper.

 

My buddy just bought a 2023 road king. Fucking gorgous bike! And yep 103 twin. Wish I knew more about harleys when I bought and would have tried to find a 107. But ohwell. I got pretty much everything I want in this one. And thanks but I am looking at the saddleman step up. I want to get as close to deleting the rear seat as possible.
