How do you step into/enter your truck?

Hello!

Just out of curiosity, how do you get into your truck(s)? Like, what is the “proper” way to step into your vehicle? I have running boards on my 21 Sport but when I get in/the driver side, I put my right foot on the board first, step up then “scoot” into the seat. I’ve seen others in lifted or bigger trucks do it where you put your left foot on the board, step fully up and then into the seat while putting your right leg in. I feel weird/think I look funny if I do it that way, but maybe I’m not used to it or not tall so I’m “jumping”, if that makes sense. Or like I’m doing more work by going over my truck and then into the seat. Obviously it doesn’t matter, just curious how others do it. Maybe catapult?

For my 2015, it was bottom first, then pull my legs in after.

My 2023 came with Predator Steps, so besides the seat being a bit higher, the steps prevent me from getting up close to the truck to stick with my old entry method. I tried the various methods mentioned by the OP and settled on the left foot on the step method. Thought about adding a driver side handle to give me something to grab, but so far the steering wheel is working for me.

ass first

 

I put my go ass first but put my foot on the sill so I lift my ass up over the bolster of the seat. This takes stress of my left hip and so I don't tear up the seat. When my sliders arrive I will do similar but on the slider.

 

No steps.

Left hand on the grab handle lift my self up with my left foot on my tippy toes, pull my right leg back quickly kick my right leg up and forward as a single motion while jumping in to the cab. Pivot on my right foot while holding myself up with my left hand still holding the grab handle while lowering my ass into the seat. Then let go of the handle.

 

Depends on which side I am getting in. I am 5'7 and think the Taco is a total pain to get in. Getting out is worse for me. I have those worthless predator steps on my AC and they actually get in my way getting out. I have been meaning to sell them. Oh and I get in feet first.

 

1) I leave the rear sliding window open
2) drop the tailgate
3) set up gymnastics springboard
4) taking running start, launch off springboard
5) triple axle spin
6) summersault off the tailgate and through the rear glass

actually using the running boards makes it harder to get in/out of the truck

 

Not head first (again)

 

Honestly I am 6'2" and getting in if I don't use my door sill it's a big stretch. But the pro is also 1.5" higher and has bigger tires. I am hoping the sliders will make it easier.

 

They won’t. They just take up real estate imo and another thing to make your pants filthy. I don’t know.

 

Right foot up grab wheel slide my ass in. Try not to hit head on frame of door.

I'm short(5'8"), fat, and way fugly. No running boards, sliders or any other stuff like that. When I get in the right foot goes in first and most of the way to the hump. I duck my head and get the rest of the way in. I don't like bumping my head on the top of the door opening.

 

This in my 99 and 21. Small cab, I'm a big guy. I can't tell you how many times I've hit my head or my left shin...

 

My driver lifts me into the seat.

 

I’m still trying to figure out how this 5’ nothing kid was like this and then suddenly sitting in the driver seat and driving away

 

When I first started using my sliders I managed to step onto them, then proceed to slam my head into the doorjamb so hard I was seeing stars. I'm short, never had to worry about that before.
