What’s your #1 Mod?

This is a tough one for my *Fav* because I've only done mods that I LOVE.
1.Undercover tri-fold tonneau cover
2.Wet Okole seat covers with Lumbar & heat
3. EBC Ultimax Rotors/Stoptech sport rear drums with SS brake lines
4. Diode dynamics Sport yellow fogs.
5. Rebuilt my whole front suspension at 150k miles with 6112s and Dirt King UCA.
6. Exhaust built around a Black Widow Venom 250 muffler.

 

I’d say the 2022 Fox Pro shocks front & rear on my 2014 OR were a pretty nice upgrade.



Best $1500 I’ve spent on suspension. My cap has been pretty nice as well

 

Worth it just for the convenience sake at least. Think of how many visits to the gas station you make now imagine that you can cut out 2/3rds of those visits. You're not spending barely any more time filling up the additional 13ish gallons at the pump but the fact that you don't have to make time on a trip to stop and get gas is wonderful. This is all off of a stock truck with stock MPG. When you start adding weight and mods, the MPG starts going down obviously. I think it's worth it.

It’s hard to choose the best but if I had to it would be the power rear sliding window mod.

 

I would have to say in order the Leer topper,bigger front brakes from Lexus GX470, and heated mirror mod.

My thoughts exactly, if you can spare the bed space this is another viable option to increase your range, you can mod it if you want to fill your primary tank nearly hands free if you'd like. This is the route I'll eventually go. The long range tank is wicked, though, can't deny that!

Wished I had this on my road trip back in 2018. Got low on fuel a few times, I should have at least had a jerrycan with me but I'd never done a trip like that before, didn't think about it. The Titan fuel tank will be in my future, but the LRA tank is on my radar for years down the line.

 

It’s that good? I have the bypass line but haven’t got around to installing it.

 

If you've driven manual transmissions your entire life and wondered why the clutch on your Tacoma is inconsistent and severely dead feeling, then yeah it's well worth it.

I purchased my truck from my brother, he was the second owner, meticulously maintained. New frame in early 2018, he kept up to date on everything. I used to make fun of him- even though he's driven stick his whole life as well, it was so jerky driving with him. When I bought the truck I realized it wasn't him, but the clutch. I just couldn't get used to it. Such garbage. Then I found out about the accumulator, deleted it, and it feels like a clutch should feel. Smooth shifts, consistent engagement, no more jerking around.

It made me go from hating the way the truck drives to enjoying it. That's my take on it.

If, however, you learned stick on this truck, it might just be natural for you. I personally cannot stand it. If I wanted the clutch to release slower, I'd ride it more.

Dude - just when I think I only need five more mods then I'm done, you show me this. Damnit. This is cool. So now I am up to six then I am done...

1. Setrab 900 Series oil cooler with fan pack for transmission cooling
2. Gears
3. Lockers
4. Tune
5. high clearance rear bumper with swing-arm for spare
6. Extended range fuel tank

That's 8-10K ^ right there. Nice.

 

Driving for 40+ years. Had over 12 cars (just mine, not the wife’s). Only 3 were automatics. Yeah, the third pedal is mushy.

 

You've been driving stick longer than me, (I'm at about 24yrs) I feel like you'd appreciate the accumulator delete. Best part is, it's easily reversible if you so choose.

My biggest qualms with this truck:
-Mushy, vague, inconsistent clutch pedal (fixed)
-Rev hang (will be fixed with a tune within a year or so)
-Throttle lag (temp fixed with a cheap Amazon throttle controller, perm. fix with a tune)
-Reverse gear is for racing (fixed with a 2Lo module)

 

seat jackers. pretty inexpensive but makes driving so much better.

 

Believe it or not, I think the roof rack has been the most useful for carrying my longboard. Couple of bungees to strap it down. I like it better than it hanging off the tailgate.

 

agreed, my prinsu style rack, has been a life saver. brought home a 15ft slide on the rack the other day for the play structure.

 

My first tacoma just about had more tree branch pinstripes than actual paint left!

 

What’s your reasoning ?

 

I’ve always wanted to run some. I don’t like the chunky heavy metal ones. Just something sleek and sturdy. Have a pic of yours by chance?

 

I'm just starting out on my mod adventure (I've got a pile of stuff waiting for me to get around to installing already), but so far I'm really liking my "any time backup camera." Don't flip to the rear camera much, but the forward facing camera is getting near daily use ... and I haven't even had a chance to try it on a trail yet.

That said I'm looking forward to my armor install the most (hidden winch bumper, skid plate and sliders) so I can start messing around in some rock gardens.
