Finally got the exhaust and intake for the monkey. So mods are intake, exhaust, cam, high compression piston and ecu flash. Got to take it out for its first ride. It pulls much better and the exhaust sounds real good. After that I took the stock 2022 grom out to compare. Yup the monkey feels like it pulls much better. I didn’t take it over 7k rpm’s because I have to break in the new rings but I can tell it’s going to be more fun. Now to get a cam and ecu flash for the grom. Already have an intake, exhaust will be here tomorrow. The cam is a couple weeks out.

I don't consider the Slingshot a motorcycle. They had to push several states to change their laws because it didn't meet the definition of a motorcycle as it existed in motor vehicle codes in those states. The Iron Butt Association doesn't recognize them as a motorcycle for purposes of their events either. In most state by definition a motorcycle had a riding position in which the passenger was seated behind the operator. In a Slingshot they're seated side by side like in a car. I believe at least one state has brought back the old time category of autocycle for them.

I had a slingshot ride my ass on blood mtn one day on my 1290r duke. I had a long day of riding and was poking on the way back home.
I didn’t appreciate how it road my ass like a car, wouldn’t pass me, so I did what anyone would do. I gave them the finger and dropped it down and ripped off like they were standing still.
Later they caught up with me at a gas station, and said man that bike really can moved, I want one…they said.

I said the way you drive you would die in the first 10mins on this machine. You don’t have the skills or maturity.

    They didn’t like that response.

    Ah, the elite wave-snobbing.
Ffs ive waved to kids on bicycles, grumpy harley dudes that wont wave back (like obnoxiously overexaggerated waving at them as they pass and usually get a chuckle), can ams, scooters, minis, etc. I dont get the ‘not bikey enough for the bike club’ thing. It brightens peoples day sometimes.
My buddy is paralyzed waist down and rides a can-am, used to ride harleys and sport bikes. Shit happens and sometimes people arent able to ride two wheeled things anymore. (We were like “are you not crippled enough dude?” “Nope, havent ruined my upper body yet.”)
I do wave to the only slingshot we have up this way because my buddy drives it and its usually the one-finger salute joking around with each other. He rides a CBR and Harley when hes not in that three-wheeled horseshoe crab lookin’ assed thing.

That was a good day, I want to ride to that overlook again. It was crazy seeing 50+ hooked up slingshots roll in.

Also I wave at anyone pretty much…bikes, trikes, scooters. I’m a friendly guy just trying to put out the positive vibes.

I don't consider it a motorcycle, but I'm not gonna look at anyone weird for choosing to ride one. We all have our own tastes, preferences, and needs. I'd consider riding one if I ever suffered an injury that made it too troublesome to ride a regular motorcycle, or I simply didn't feel safe leaning around on a motorcycle anymore. That'll hopefully be a long time, if never though.

As far as waving...I'll return one if I get it. I might initiate one to a trike, but never to a scooter because those hippie assholes* never wave back even if they're looking me dead on while I do it. I'll initiate to any motorcycle though, harley, minibike, dirt, sport, or otherwise. if they don't wanna wave back oh well

*Only here in Southern California am I calling scooter riders hippie assholes, because that's all I see on em. Not saying all scooter riders are hippie assholes

I'm an idiot...didn't realize that was a slingshot...thought it was a trike. I'd give them a shaka for having a cool car probably but not the moto wave.

No but some a-hole at work kept parking one in the motorcycle parking last year taking up the space of like 3 bikes...

They do look like they would be fun as hell to rip around in though.

I think if it has a steering wheel rather than handlebars........it's a car. Not mad at them though :D

I don't hate them but don't see much purpose in them. Takes up the same space as a car, limited carrying capacity, none of the safety features of a modern car, gas mileage way worse than most bikes, limited dealer network in a lot of regions. I've sat in a few and they do seem like they might be fun for a day and I have seen some places that rent them near resort areas.

Looks mean. Always thought they were kinda cool but I don't think I could ever justify buying one for myself. see @BkerChuck 's post. Maybe a 1 day or weekend rental.

You know what I would kill to see in person, let alone own? An Ariel Atom. Always loved those things...surprisingly never seen one in person even though I live in supercar paradise.

I have seen one! let me see if I still have pics. I also had a guy ship out the wheels from one. They were carbon fiber and only weighed like 8lbs each..
