Well I got some quotes on getting some electric in my barn, will have to put in a sub panel and then run about 180 feet ot to the barn wanting a 100 amp panel, then adding some lights with switches and outlets plus a 220 50 amp outlet and a 220 /230 walk in cooler.( this is a future project.)
And got 2 more quotes coming but they are interesting .
    Usually don’t play with electric
    It is interesting

Are you gonna bury that 180 foot run to the barn? I have underground wire to my buildings and it's really nice to 1) have electricity out there and 2) not having to worry about overhead. Just need not to be digging too deep where I know it is:thumbsup:. All were installed outside of conduit by previous owners...

I have a few underground feeds around the house. Without looking it up code says 18” if you aren’t driving over it. I go deeper here because frost. I never direct bury wire unless there’s a boat load of sand around it. I use 2” conduit usually if there going to be a sub panel.

No argument from me there! Conduit, layer of warning tape about a foot above.. If I have to do them over for whatever reason, they'll be done according to code.. Who knows, they might have been back in the day :notsure:

Mine had to be 36 inches deep and no one said anything about tape in 2005. I actually ran two conduits to my garage. One for electric and one for (at the time) phone and cable. I ran a heavy string with the phone and cable line so years later I was able to pull those and run a CAT 6 cable (and another string for future use)

Shortly after we bought the swimming pool, I hired electrician to take down the overhead power- line going to pole barn and run it underground. The old wires...they look so old they didn't have much insulation left on them. Also right above the swimming pool:bananadead:

I worked on a interesting little job today; they're using a butterfly valve for throttling mostly air..but anyways the basic hand operated lever type with notches to lock it in place. Issue is one notch location not enough flow the next notch at max allowed. So they having me fabricate a couple of little clamps to lock it in place on in-between.
I helped the wife get strainer basket mounted on the side of the pool and then mowed some grass with old mower. It seems to be working fine now.
Edit; should add this little clamp device will be temporary because they make a adapter kit and small gear operator for this type valve.

Yesterday I didn't leave the estate - except to drive 1/2 mile down to the neighbors because it seemed hazy... Later in the day my rural letter carrier (the tire repair) informed me about the Canada fires.

Today I went downtown, kind of an unusual experience, almost like something out of an apocalypse movie.

The fires are about 450 miles from me at the closest, I can't imagine how the folks closer are coping.:pray:

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Electrical materials are still high causing quotes to be on the high side compared to a few years ago.

180' that is going need some large cable that I think would be much of the cost.

    No electrical skilled friends ?

Yes indeed big cable big money. I’d suggest running the 180 with aluminum if permitted. Sure you gotta run a bigger gauge but that length of copper is big money & TEC, well forget it unless you can write it off somehow.
