    UPDATE: I REMOVED the SPACERS!!!

So as of this minute, I’ve decided to remove the Spidertrax spacers! As much as I like the look a few things were bothering me about them. And this is ONLY my own experience and opinion so no need to try and prove me differently.

First, I have read a TON on the topic of hub-centric spacers etc etc and I understand that they would add some additional rotational mass but the funny thing is, is that I could feel it! Meaning, acceleration took a little bit more, also turn radius was a little different (as you’d expect I guess) but outside of that, they did drive straight and true on the highway. I will say maybe even better than stock as well!

Secondly, I did the entire procedure by the book! Torqued to spec, anti-seize, used loctite. I even went back at exactly 50 miles and checked them. Surprisingly I found one that was loose (maybe I didn’t torque it? Not sure) and a couple more that needed to be snugged up to the correct poundage. But at this point, I started getting a little anxiety over worrying about them while driving.

Driving home last night, I simply went up a slight lip in a driveway and heard a little clunk sound. GRANTED, these trucks make all sorts of creaks and moans but was I just over analyzing things? And just paranoid? Not sure but I was a little cautious when I first bought these as well and was even hesitant about installing them in the first place. But when I test fitted the first one, I LOVED the look so I installed them.

My final thoughts, my 2022 Tacoma Trail Edition barely has 10K miles on it and I bought a Tacoma because of just how bullet-proof these things seem to be and when I started thinking and worrying about my wheel spacers, it started clouding how I felt about my truck. I mean, for aesthetics they look amazing and give the truck a much better stance. And I do understand that some people need to use these in order to clear upper control arms etc. but ever since I installed these only a few weeks ago, it’s been a constant on my mind while driving! I’m not saying that these are not the top of the top quality that are out there and some will say they even have up to 30K miles on their wheel spacers but from the things I’ve read with the spacers getting stuck on the truck, or that they have to check them and retorque them every so often, or I’ve even heard where a couple people have over tightened them and sheered off there studs. It’s just not for me!

All in all I’m happy to be back to stock and can rest assure that I didn’t add something that changes the geometry, etc to an already outstanding vehicle.

Hope this helps someone out there!

    Thanks for reading.

Also and don’t flame me for saying this, but part of me felt like the wheel spacers were like I was stuffing my crouch area or wearing inserts in my shoes to be taller!

    Again, only my thoughts! Lol

FWIW, you can go to factorystylewheels and buy wheels styled like OEM but with different widths and offsets.

Smart move OP. I get the wider stance and I think a good stance aka lift and the right 285s on the factory wheels look great. I have 285s on the 4Runner Pro SEMA wheels and its just enough poke for me, has a nice stance on the 5100s on the 5th setting and a 1 inch block. It looks so much better than stock even a stock Pro stance and this should be the stance Toyota should have went with.

After much internal debate/review, I recently installed the Spidertrax 1.25".
My thoughts are if the hub and spacer are clean when installed then everything should be fine if torqued to spec.
I had tires but on after. The tire shop went 110#'s on wheel to spacer. I set spacer to hub 90/80. I will certainly recheck them put checking doesn't bother me.
I've worked on printing presses for over 20yrs. Adding/removing parts some more frequent than others. They crank around at 45k sheets/hr all day long. Equates to maybe 17mph but they're moving all day everyday under heavy load. Never once have I had anything fall off.
That gives me the peace of mind.

I felt my 2022 Tacoma drove better with them also. Could’ve been in my mind but it sure felt real. I now have a 2024 Tacoma though and just bought some 1” spacers for the new truck
