Picked up a plasma cutter and tig/stick welder from primeweld over the weekend. They were great guys and threw in a bunch of consumables. Walked away with everything for 800 bucks.

Got some time to mess around today. So far, stick welding is the most fun technique I’ve done.

I’m excited to try tig. I have a bottle of C25 left over. As I practice doing tig, does anyone think it’s fine to use up this shielding gas before exchanging it for 100% argon. Would only use it for practice welds.

Man you made out like a bandit.

    I would only use argon.

Yea, they had a whole room of those stick welders. All open box for 600. Definitely a great deal.

Using a mix with carbon dioxide your tungsten`s will be destroyed .

All kinds of exotic blends for stainless grades but pure Argon works for most everything.

The only thing that sucks is that all my files are post processed for Mach 3 as .tap files and I don’t know any easy way to convert them over to .nc files. So I have to make all new files lol

You will wonder how you lived before having this new tool.

    Best of luck !

Gotta be some computer people that know how to move your files.

    Isn't that Mach 3?

Do you have to use Fire Control to run the table?

Ive had the smaller crossfire table for about 4 years and it’s been amazing but I’m definitely excited to have a bigger table now for sure!

My neighbor is super good with computers and he’s trying to help me out with it haha. We’ll see. If I have to make new files, it is what it is but it would be nice to be able to easily convert them

He has Mach 3 due to his old table.

Langmuir uses only FC for their stuff for sometime now.

I had posted those bed stiffeners in 3/16" that came out really square and clean cut.

Cut some 1/4" just now for a friend for his hydro bump strike pads and there is practically no dross on both front and back.

Here they are with zero clean-up right off the table -

That's why I had to post

    "If you know, you know"

So glad the cuts remain this clean and only confirms my having to adjust the physical mounting of the frame and gantry.

Almost forgot to cut the remaining parts out as I had boxed up those two plates already

By far the heaviest, small flat-rate box I've shipped

The best part is on tooling within reach of the home shop users.

After all that was the idea go from the table direct to prefab being able to save the clean up labor time.

    Oh I figured as much.

Just funny how such a small box used to be labeled as 'media mail' some years back.

But prices have really gone up...used to be $3-4 to ship said box.

That or I'm just showing my age :bananadead:
