I placed an order for a Meso gas cap holder and subsequently tried to remove the screw on the inside of the gas door to aid in installation. I've read that this screw can be hard to remove from the factory. I can't seem to loosen it without damaging the screw. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks TW

I used a small, battery powered impact drill (Dewalt) with a Phillips head bit that worked like a champ.

It has loctite on it and you need to use a #3 phillips bit. Heat will help loosen the loctite but too much will obviously damage the paint.

Careful that you don't put too much twisting force on that gas door hinge.

Make sure to use the correct size Phillips screw driver; as was suggested. When I added an aftermarket gas cap holder, the torque wasn't too bad.

I buggered mine up trying to remove the MESO Gasshole. I used a 5 inch long Vicegrips to remove my screw. Then went to the Farm Supply store and bought a stainless steel screw to put back in.

People are better off to forget the cool name "Gasshole" and buy a cradle type like I replaced the "Gasshole" with. Reason I got rid of the Gasshole is my locking gas cap would not fit in it.

    This is what I bought.

Running into same issue except mine has a nut on the other side. Can't find a wrench that can slot in there.

Mine was tight but a good Phillips screwdriver did the trick. Didn’t need heat.

That's a JIS screw, is my guess

#3 Vessel JIS Screwdriver so it won't strip

use a quality screwdriver with a sharp bit. those cheap-o screwdrivers always are dull and round out screwheads.

That's a welded nut so you can't remove. PB Blaster and a small pair of vise-grips to get it moving then a regular #3 phillips.

A soldering iron, placed on the screw for about a minute will allow the screw to be removed easily. Localized heat, no damage to paint. Do use a #3 Phillips
