Kinda wish I went with a 3” lift instead of 2.5”. Anyone else make that mistake?

    my setup:
    Bilstein 5100s
    OME 2888s (bottom clip)
    Icon 1.5” AAL / 5100s
    JBA uppers
    Ray10s 17x8.5 -10
    Toyo Open Country M/T 285/70/17

so I had rubbing in reverse issues. Trimmed plastic for the first week. Just had my CMC done today. So far I look okay for clearance. No more rubbing on the streets. Kinda nervous to take it off-road because when turning there’s not a whole lot of room when the coils up-travel and when I’m turning.. maybe 3.5-4” before I hit the punch weld. (The pinch weld was also trimmed heavy a good bit today.

Alignment achieved 3.5 degrees of caster with the JBA’s.

should I just slap on some 6112s and sell the 5100s?

    Lift does not help rubbing.

Your taco looks really good and capable. I ran a similar set up several years ago. If I were in your shoes and was unhappy with the performance, I’d look at replacing the AAL for custom leaf packs such as deavers. Next kings or icons or or with reservoir (preferences/opinions vary widely here) shocks plus front coil springs rated appropriately. Next you’ll need upper control arms (SPC, but your JBAs should do the trick) to improve alignment. That’ll get you to 3” but at a price. That’s the set up I’ve been running for a few years and have been very happy with. Blocks and spacers can get you there too but your ride quality/capabilities may decrease. Also the hammer and dremel tool will help with rubbing (gotta push things out of the way to make room). It’s your $$$, spend responsibility (or not, lol).

And 2" of lift is the sweet spot for these trucks.

It’s not that I’m unsatisfied with the lift I have but more so the height I chose. It honestly rides like I’m on clouds and I love it. I think the jba’s push the wheel to far back but maybe a realignment with more caster would help some. Im thinking the hammer and tool option is in my future haha. I just wish I went a little higher is all really.

I thought that all of the 3" suspension lifts actually just give 2.5".

Gotcha. Maybe hammer hangers? But that just addresses the rear.

Sounds like it’s time for a CMC if you’re rubbing. I’ve read some threads with guys running 285s without any rub, but it varies truck to truck it seems.

Nope. Still stock suspension with 285/75R17's. Can't seem to find the time to install my 1" for front leveling and proper alignment.

    It's not about the CMC.
When you put higher offset wheels on, you rub. When you lift to prevent rubbing, you don't realize that your suspension will still compress down to the original unlifted height when you hit a bump.
If you look at true offroad vehicles, they don't lift because it makes the CG of the vehicle too tippy. They keep them as low as possible and cut cut cut and cut some more.
Personally, I think your mods are all for show and not for go and that's okay. Just don't come here arguing your point when it's wrong. 'gram for life lol.
