So I have been running heat cycles all day on the monkey. I did take it out after I installed the exhaust and intake last night. I rode for about 1/2 hour seating the rings. I drained the oil and found the usual stuff you find during break in. I pulled the filter and a few shiny pieces (normal) . The filter wasnt bad so I just changed the oil.
So today I have been on about 6 rides doing a 7-8 mile loop. After each ride I put a fan on the engine to complete cool it down. I will do that again tomorrow. Then on Friday I will do an oil and filter change and she will be ready to rip. I can tell already that it pulls harder in the 5-7k rpm range.
Then my kemimoto exhaust came for the grom. The exhaust sounds so much better than stock. It has two baffles. The baffle that slides in and a cap on the end of it is removable. So I took the cap off and put the baffle back in. Perfect as it’s loud but not too loud. The Grom though is just way smoother than the monkey. The monkey is like a hot rod and the grom is a sports car. No neither is fast but mps (miles per smiles) it’s fast.

Get one with the 5speed. My 5speed grom is so much smoother than my 4 speed monkey. JMO because I own both.

I haven’t been that easy on the break in . Just want to make sure the new rings get a good seat.

Ok I need to vent this. I have been looking for a small truck to replace the 2022 TRD off-road I just sold. I used part of the money to by my son a graduation car. Anyway I have three trucks I have been interested in. Two of the trucks the people are out of town. Why the hell would you put a vehicle up forsale and leave town!?? I don’t freaking understand. Then there are the people that never respond or ask to call. So I call and told “my dad will call you back” to never receive a call. OMFG what do I have to do to buy a freaking truck?!!!

Looks pretty unmolested and stock to me. Not crazy price, either. I support it.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Older monkey with sidecar! could be the new grocery getter!

That's good. Anything less than $2k would have been criminal. Glad you got what you were hoping for.
