Better to dump it with lower miles and just that one issue than have a +100k truck with that and whatever else. It would be worthless then.

with the new one be a Karen and report even if a bird shits on the windshield

Buy a Ram, more reliable with the Hemi than modern Toyotas

If you're getting drops of oil, you should really repair it sooner than later.

Not sure what’s wrong with that dude. Not the first time he posts things like that.

Ram is a great truck to lease, not a truck to keep long term.

My 2nd gen 2.7 leaked. The 3.5 doesn't own that problem.

Update 6/15/ : Talked to the Toyota dealer I used to work for. They offered 25k for the truck and I owe about 23k. Would roll equity and add some money down into a 2023 Trd off road and be about 50-70$ higher than my current payment. Keep in mind Im in a SR5 and this would be an Off Road.

I just dont feel too comfortable putting the 5k into a fix that may not permanently seal it.

Ive looked at some used options but with the current used car interest rates right now they are fairly high as well.

I will update the post with my final decisions here soon. Thanks again for all the advice and comments

Clean it up and just seal it from the outside dude. One guy posted on here long ago that he did this and put 20k miles on it and leak never returned

    Your decision of course
New is new for sure. If your ok with the extra scratch go for it . But at the same time sealing it the correct way will also be fine . These motors can run a long time so in reality if you can somehow cut a deal with Toyota corporate or grab a Toyota mechanic on the side it really would be fine. The motor most likely has hardly any wear. The thing that makes this a pain in the ass is that there is no room to do this in the truck. That’s really the issue . Otherwise it would be a straight forward job . ( I worked on cars since I’m a kid ). Remove what you need to remove , clean the mating surfaces maybe throw in a new water pump for good measure , a new belt and put back together, nice and clean and new gasket material .The whole thing from Toyota’s stand point is dumb . They should have made a plate or spacer or special gasket something to make sure that area never leaks . But at the very least make i accessible so if does leak it’s a quick fix .

Sell it to Carvana or Vroom, almost guarantee they’ll pay you more than the dealer.
