The Lexus or Land Cruiser looks like it went to private school... 4th gen looks like it was home schooled.

Hopefully we can get the GX/TX reveals out of the way so Toyota can give us a better look at the TRDOR, conspicuously missing from the Hawaiian promo.

A mid-priced trim w/o seat shock absorbers and less of the “I’m very rugged!” styling gimmicks but still offering 80-90% of the Pro/Prepper-hunter’s off-road chops would be a no brainer. Heck, I’d bet most people would even lift their own aluminum tailgate if it saves them $1000 bucks.

I really hope the new gen comes with better seats and seat position. That is one thing i hate about the 3rd gen. Very awkward and uncomfortable seats

Yup. Plus pretty good gas mileage. I’d take a Ram over a Tundra any day.

The Tundra looks better but other than that the Ram is better.

The auto tailgate is the one thing that’s lost on me. In an SUV it’s great to have a power liftgate. Maybe it is just because I haven’t used it yet on a truck that I don’t see the benefit yet.

The 3rd gen has a perfect tailgate in my opinion, love the latch sound too.

I don't see the point of the power tailgate either.

    Dampened tailgates? Absolutely.

Power tailgates? Not sure how many scenarios would warrant that increased complexity. If I am loading the truck with heavy items I would likely have the tailgate down already. If they are not heavy and my hands are full I could likely throw them over the bedsides or free up one hand to pull the latch.

Can see it handy for the new topper style campers. Had a Wildernest on my 1st Gen, while the tailgate is light, it is a little awkward to close it from the inside. Power gate would be nice.

Why some go to barn doors, and eliminate the tailgate altogether, it is easier to get in and out, easier to close from the inside too.

That's a good example of a use case - just make sure you have the fob with you as there is no button on the inside of the bed/gate.

I saw that SmartCap is updating their latches and will have buttons to unlock from the inside. It would be nice if Toyota had some sort of manual tailgate release in the interior of the bed near the AC outlet.

I’ll take the sweet solid “ka-chunk” of closing the old, heavy steel ‘gate all day.

Missed Gen4 gimmick opportunity that they didn’t try to pump that sound through the (pop out) speaker when the new tailgate powers up. They make fake V8 noises in Tundras now, so why not expand the idea.

It really seems like Toyota rushed the 4th gen reveal out to steal thunder from Ford and the new Ranger release. I find it hard to believe they didn't and still don't have any info for the OR and SR5 public.

There is an auto open option on my Leer (I don’t have it) but can see in a matter of time they’ll have auto close too.

On my 1st Gen made a handle out of webbing to grab a hold of. Have gotten so used to the dampened gate on my 3rd, forget and let the 1G slam down. Even my wife likes the 3G better. We constantly use the trucks and always have armfuls of stuff. Sure auto shut is a little gimmicky, but then after awhile you think how in the world did we live with out it for so long. Like all of the modern conveniences. I remember the days of power nothing…

This sounds like me after we replaced our toilets and they came with soft closing lids. Now anytime I visit someone's house without it, the whole house knows what I am up to.

Perhaps the power closing tailgate is the equivalent of a bidet, which I hear good things about.

I saw a while back a document that listed all the engine combinations with bhp, lb-ft and peak rpm but can’t find it. It looked like a Toyota user manual…

    Anyone help me out?
