I'm not sure if it came up here or the other thread but the full carrier definitely makes a huge difference. A local guy has shredded two sets of 5.29s on the factory open 7.5 carrier and I haven't busted mine on the ARB (yet). Similar driving styles and that.

Yeah ARB front. Ideally I would copy exactly what @El Taco Diablo just did for steering. I gotta say though it's hard to keep throwing money at this truck when I wheel it *hard* only once a year anymore. I've got a full NWF case with triples sitting on the garage floor that I KNOW won't get installed for a long while. But still I like to make things better and stronger while I have it so I will probably keep at it. Eventually when my son is older I will have time to wheel hard again, so it's all in preparation for that. I do miss my rock crawling days though.

Haha Pat volunteered too because he wanted to check out the whole NWF setup. He's currently rebuilding his transmission and experimenting with a higher 5th gear which I told him he can test on my truck since his trucks getting a brand new one. Not being at 3500 RPM's at 80 would be real nice. I did find the speed where the truck starts to feel a little rattle aparty on the way to the last dual sport:

It's fun showing up to these events in a shit box 22 year old toyota as my camp rig when everyone else has $40-100k rv's and toy haulers.

Removing the ADD tube and using the manual hub tube would probably remove the most play, sure it won't disconnect anymore but does that little MPG amt matter when youre on 37s?

100%. I've always theorized that after I snapped my stub shaft and saw the design. Figure why not take it one step further with cryo while I am at it too. Was even thinking I can carry an extra shaft with a fresh bearing already on it too in case the shaft ever fails while not needing to carry the entire tube. Though I've seen tubes snap before too on 2nd gens.

    Where did it break?

Could cut a section of pipe in halves and weld it around the tube to sleeve it lol

You gonna need a set of plates to mount said steering setup? :burp:

I think I fucked myself there, I cut off the sway bar mount on one side to make it easier to get the starter in and out.

I chopped em off too for downpipe and steering rack joint access. There's no reason you couldn't make the width of the slide rack mounts a little further out and bolt to the frame though

Harder now that I can't pull it from the wheel well with the gussets lol. Plus I hit my head on them enough times to get angry enough to take a sawzall to them.

Oh absolutely, just won't work with his specs he's already got for the table now.

    I don't. I don't trust the 7.5 with 37s. Even with a locker it's a ticking time bomb.

For the money to get a rcv intermediate shaft made I'd be way more interested in fitting the 8" diff to our trucks like FROR did to their 4runner.

    @cynicalrider
100% what @Speedytech7 says. You could totally build better mounts than the sway bar mounts and go off of those.

    Why stop at 8"

I've been curious about putting one of these in our trucks.

    Screenshot_20230608_173649_DuckDuckGo.jpg

It's not impossible. And it would be much more worth the time, effort, and money.

How are you going to deal with the bottom door hinge? No way that is going to survive to clear 37s completely.
