Yea but see, saying you support gays but not their right to marry? that makes no sense, thats like saying: You can be gay, but just dont get into a relationship with other gay people.

It certainly makes sense. I have nothing against homosexuals as people. There are certainly groups on all sides that hate other groups to the point of wanting to hurt or kill them. I have no animosity of any kind like that towards gay people, and in fact have quite a number of gay friends.

That being said, much to their chagrin, I don't think that allowing anyone to marry others of the same gender is good for the deteriorating health of marriage in this country.

There are a number of reasons that I feel this way, but in general, it gets back to one major point: In addition to being more prone to suicide, homosexuals are also far more sexually promiscuous than other groups, hands down. If gay people, especially gay men, cannot stay faithful in regular, non-marriage relationships, I don't see how this will do anything but hurt the divorce rate.

For concrete examples, the CDC did a study in 1982 illustrating that most gay men have had more than 500 partners, and those with AIDS averaged 1,100. There have been plenty of other studies to the same effect; Psychology today did a similar study in San Francisco, showing much the same results.

I don't see stable relationships here, by the numbers. That says to me that there won't be stable marriages, which in turn says to me that the already abysmal state of marriage would be even worse.

Nope, but insurance statistics prove that a married couple is less likely to do something stupid to get themselves killed. Most laws stem from insurance companies. Seatbelts is a perfect example. most of the original legislation came from suggestions from insurance agencies.

why should people who are married get tax breaks? in the US at least, anyone who is singled or gay basically has a tax increase on them
