I actually was there when it happened and was recording it, go figure. That was back when I didn't know how much binding up can fuck shit up. You can see the rock dug deep into his wheel, combine that with 4.70's and snap city bitch.

    https://youtu.be/q0Dzj4yMbvA?t=309

Start at 5:09, you can see his bolts catching on the rock completely immobilizing the wheel. And when you don't get a smooth/clean break you get a tube that goes bye bye.

It's what everyone said about 35's too and I've only snapped a CV and a stub shaft so far. But I probably don't wheel hard enough.

Yeah that is a problem for future me to figure out. The hope was that LT will push it far enough from the firewall but @cbechtold has proven recently that it might not help as much as I assumed.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

I'm hoping a combination of LT and a body lift will help. I'll most likely be trying on 37s next winter. So, I may be able to answer some questions for future you... lol

Yep. Problem being there's no interest since everyone wants an 8" front diff.

Unforunately yes, that being said, it's close. I think it's doable, but only time would tell. I'm a few years out from trying, but I've got to link the rear end and build a Ford 9" before I even think about 37s.

I'm fighting that body lift so hard so I don't need to move my front bumper lol.

Yeah I have a whole list of other shit before I slap 37's on myself. Probably going to need another set of 35's soon and will go the M/T route.

I just said fuck it and didn't move the front (or rear) bumper.

I think it looks fine. It's only an inch. And with everything else going on, on the truck, I don't even think it's that noticable.

that might be a bit of a strech but not impossible. The 2nd gen taco diff mounts are in the same place near as I could tell its just the width that has to be dealt with, and different axles.

It's possible. Just gotta get them pushed far forward which some LT kits do or something like the solo arms. Plus Silas did it, but he did have to bump it out to keep it from eating the firewall.

you're locked though right? I think with the locker the diff is okay with 35s for the most part. But 37s? ehhhhh idk.

honestly my saving grace has probably been the lack of compound low. I don’t have gobs of torque available to snap my shit. The down side has always been complete exhaustion at the end of the real technical trails we got out here in the east coast.

IMG_0912.jpg We got the final coat of paint done and most of the accessories back on. Still got to cut and polish the paint the beginning of next week. Camper shell is being painted now. He’ll have it fully back together by the end of the weekend.

Strike pads are ready to bolt on for a test fit. They'll need a little bit of fitting, but they are close to fitting already.

Did you get the standard or increased load capacity?

According to Lew at Alcan these are 700 lb over stock capacity. But that number seems off to me, because they don't ride rough at all

I have a set of increased load capacity (I think he told me +200 lbs) alcans sitting in my garage that I took off really quick. The ride sucked. But I also installed a set of radlfo shocks at the same time so I was struggling to figure out which was the problem or if it was both. I'm assuming both because I hated the radflos I had on the front too.

You know ride quality is so subjective, that mine may just feel "good" to me now, because of how clapped out my other leafs were. So hard to say. I mostly replaced my leafs because they were clanking around in the retainer clips making a "death clunk" from the rear over every bump and around every turn. Totally resolved that problem with the Alcans

You're definitely correct about the subjective part. I have a goldilocks butt dyno when it comes to suspension. I have owned no less than 7 sets of coilovers over 3 first gen Tacomas.

    LMFAO!

    A) You do know coilovers are tuneable... Right?

    B) If your ass is that sensitive, why would you have ever even considered buying a knock off brand like Radflo?
