In a year and a half, we will be closer to 2050 than 2000.

Serving a toddler alcohol was frowned upon, even in the 90s

Clearly my attention was elsewhere in those years. I don’t remember that stuff at all. I do remember when Harbor Freight tools was called Harbor Freight Salvage, and they actually did sell salvage merchandise.

But before then there were real surplus shops and salvage places I used to go and shop them with my father. You could get things like big drillbits really cheap because maybe they needed to be sharpened or they were an odd size.

I still have wrenches & tools that we bought in those places 50+ years ago. I remember buying transformers and diodes from an electrical surplus place.

Maybe you remembered car stereos with detachable brackets under the dash, so you could take the thing with you. Mine plugged into a second bracket under my drafting table at work, and there I ran it off a power supply I built myself from surplus junk.

I drank brandy with my dad when I was in 2nd grade. I passed out under the kitchen table…… times were different back then, that’s for sure!

Dad wasn't much of a drinker but in the summer after cutting the grass he liked a cold beer and always gave me a juice glass full from his beer.
    Yes times were different.

Mom never had any alcohol around so that was never an option.

If she ever did drink at any time i never found out.

I do wonder at times if indulging had caused my procreation .

I remember helping my dad work on cars and sometimes he would have a beer. When he wasn't looking I would take a sip then he would wonder why it went so fast but he never questioned me. Hahaha

My mom didn’t drink either….. she divorced him when I was 15 months old because of his drinking. Visits with him were very sporadic growing up.

I grew up calling him Sperm Donor after I was 12 the rare times we crossed paths.

Looking back I can only hope Mom was passed out when the deed was done.

Then had the real bad luck of her cycle timing.
