Having dealt with this issue, it's a loose connection that generates the heat. Add some dielectric grease when connecting them. The grease doesn't do anything to improve the connection, but will keep out oxygen. That should prevent any sparks and keep the connector from overheating.

Edit: my issue was where the connector attached to the blower motor. Would still recommend the upgraded resistor and plug.

I could look into that once I get home and after dinner.

Tacoma A/C Amplifier A14-22 (IGN) signal can be grabbed from pin G45-29 (TACH) on the GX460 Engine ECU.

THWO is an earlier method Toyota used more commonly in the late 90's-early 2000's. I don't see anything in the GX that would match for the temperature signal. My suggestion would be to try without supplying the temperature signal and see if the compressor will engage. If not, you'd need to either simulate an "acceptable temperature" signal, or build an IC for either a CAN adapter or DAC to generate an actual temperature signal.

I looked and the coolant temp sensor from the GX only supplies the ECU with voltage (THW), not a waveform. Could you use the A/C amplifier out of the GX?

I will probably have a get a pulse wave form generator and simulate a wave form found at 75° C. As for using the gx ac amp, that is not an option due to the CAN communication for the controls. I can't use the lexus touch screen to control the ac amp. Thanks for looking.

Gas tank with new side shield is in, just waiting on McMaster Carr to come through with some 3/4" inch ID soft rubber fuel line to hook up a couple of tubes. I also put on a new oem fill tube because I broke mine when I took the bed off, the plastic bits are so brittle.

Got to work on hooking up the 5 channel, this was kind of the only good spot to put it to clear the gx seat when I drop it down about 1.5 inches. I started doing some continuity testing on the speaker wires and found out that the rear right (red and white wires) speaker didn't have continuity. The media harness runs up to where the cluster connects. I checked up there to see if I jacked something up only to find all the speaker wires except right rear "No. 2" speaker lol. Turns out they decided to run this speaker wire to the tailgate on the left side harness, connect it to the right side at the right rear quarter panel. I connected the plug on in the last picture and it has continuity now lol. What a cluster that was.

I put the scope on my A/C Amplifier signals today, here's what they look like. Note the Lock Sensor signal is scaled x10 as it's a very small signal (~300 mV peak to peak).

    It’s getting interesting now.
This is the technical stuff that isn’t fun to work out.
But once you get it worked out, it’s rewarding in the fact you actual made it work.

I mean, I can’t offer any help. This is beyond my capabilities, but it’s interesting none the less.

What do you think the potential consequences are of just getting a pulse wave generator to generate that pulse for coolant temp? This would be without actually having any coolant temp input.

If you generate the correct signal I don't see why it wouldn't work, I'm pretty sure all it's there for is to disable the A/C in the event of the engine overheating.
That signal shown is with the engine temp at about 182F

I was thinking the same thing. That might be the path of least resistance. Now to find a decent pulse wave generator.

You concerned about blasting the HVAC vent directly at the amp? On colder days with the heat on it seems like that would get quite warm if the floor vents were active

I use this Amp Rack from *********.com and it allows the floor vent to work well for the back seat and doesn’t seem to impact my amp temperature….as an idea…

See picture header for where… it’s in the Tacoma, then Amp section of their online store.

My amp has been sitting over the vent for about 5-6 years, play my music loud daily without any issues.
