So what you are saying is… I should open up my well valve and let the city fill up the well for me!?

Can you not buy a house and have to dump a stupid amount of money into it? Btw about to repair my hot water heater for the second time… or go tankless.

How often do you have to change the filters?

buy a house they said. It’s cheaper than renting they said.

our hot water is also on the way out. Debating tankless or not. Propane is still more expensive than electricity heating a tank.

If you have space for it, look into a heat pump water heater. It’ll pay for itself in about 5 years.

the RO gets serviced every year but since it’s going through two softeners first we are thinking we can stretch it to two years.

the softeners resin is good for 10-15yrs, not sure about the whole house backwash filter. I would think that’s good indefinitely

I wouldn’t have thought they would share a line but I’ve also never live somewhere that had well water entering the house.
It definitely seems all sorts of wrong to have the two
Come together though. Only place I could see that being useful would be maybe to prime a pump and of course then it’s just a close vale 99.9999999 of its life. Also dumb as a simple hose fitting is suffice

One would think there should be some sort of backflow regulation. They’re right sharp about that here even in the rural RM’s.

Oh yes that’s a good point, gotta prevent the flow of the back :) you’re 100% right

I’d also like to add that I only know minimal stuff about shallow wells and nothing about deep :D water table isn’t far down around here haha

Back home we hit Natural Gas at 60ft. Water started at about 100ft. Some folks with a crack in their basement foundations & gas water heater’s would leave to for a long weekend and come back to splinters.

My well is 400ft deep. Dunno why. Neighbors that I’ve talked to are all 80-120ft…

Jeez! And the water quality was still that bad that deep? Do you think it has anything to do with being so close to lake Norman?

We run around 85’ish. Keeps it out of the sediment and filters have been happy. We also live on a pond and have natural springs
