Exhausting isn’t it, they’ll just move the goal post when presented with facts. “Does this engine really reduce emissions” yes here’s a video explaining how. “Well it’s not enough to matter”. Reducing air pollution is a good thing, here evidence showing how much car emissions affect air quality. “Well the photos must be FAKE”. Never ending cycle with these folks.

I'd be exhausted from all the goal post moving.

I would love to find out the 4th gen Tacoma, and 6th gen 4Runner have reduced their emissions a significant percentage, and improved gas mileage a significant percentage. One is good for the planet, and the other is good for my wallet.

There are no goals to reach when it comes to air pollution.

You might want to go out and start directing traffic. There is going to be a lot of 95 detour traffic idling in streets of Philadelphia and NJ.

Spend some time in Bangladesh or china and you’ll see why most developed nations make a concentrated effort to reduce the quantifiable number of fine particulate matter in the air. There are goals, we literally index and rank cities based on air quality. You’re lucky you were born in a country that makes an effort to do so.

The electric brake booster is on the off-road; while the sport still has vacuum boost. At least on the 3Gs.
There was also some information about larger brakes with different packages and with the hybrids.

On the 3G, we get a smaller sway bar, and may be able to get the disconnecting one on the 4GOR.

You have to come to the realization that the majority of people don't care about fine particulate matter in the air, for various reasons. They have other more pressing things to be concerned with. Especially anyone who takes up residency in a US city.

There's a culture of stupidity that has a stranglehold on urban America. That culture isn't concerned with the environment, and have to wonder if the agenda of climate science is having a negative impact on that culture. I don't like to associate to seperate seemingly unrelated topics that shouldn't impact each other, but maybe one should be addressed before the other.

I hope the disconnecting sway bar is available on the off-road, I suspect just like the 3g the electric brake booster will be intended for the A-trac and crawl control and only offered on the off-road, trail hunter and pro. Will Toyota offer a spring under setup on all extra cab models to give it equivalent articulation and wheel travel to the linked rears? I know it’s optioned on the pre runner which makes sense for high speed dessert driving. I’ve also heard crawl control is less clunky on their newer vehicles.

I disagree, not caring vs not having the power or resources to address an issue are a different. Any reasonable person wants basic environmental protections like less air pollution and access to clean drinking water regardless if they have the power to make those changes on an individual level. You live in a country where those protections are enforced to a certain extent. I don’t really understand what you are correlating in the second paragraph.

Now that we all sat through class on the environmental changes that have taken place over the last few years....what else do we like / dislike about the 4th gen taco?

Personally I think it would have been cool to see them add a front locker and I'm happy they finally added the boxed frame.

Im happy about the boxed frame and I think the powertrain will offer a much better driving experience than the 3rd gen. 465 torque at 1700 rpm is what a truck needs. I really hope the driving position is better as well as the sound deadening. I would prefer old school hydraulic power steering but I haven’t driven a 4g so if the steering feel is similarly weighted I will be happy.

The axle bore has gotten smaller, would have preferred the axles off a 70 or 200 series.

    Pro

    It's not electric.

It produces too much emissions. It should have been electric. :D

Should have been a diesel it wouldn't have needed a supplemental electric motor.

I'm still waiting to see the what the new Hilux will offer. That truck is more important to Toyota.

I’d rather have a supplemental electric motor than pay diesel prices, higher maintenance cost and deal with the complexity of modern DEF systems. Short trips are bad for gas engines, but even worse for diesels. With the hybrid you get the performance benefit of a gas engine and the low end torque of a diesel with more reliability. There’s a reason they stopped selling the duramax in the Colorado.

The rest of the planet is polluting the earth with their diesels while we’re stuck saving the earth with our little turd engines.

Grass is always greener. We have access to half tons and heavy duty’s here, many foreigners would love to have access to the plethora of V8’s still sold here. 1.5-1.9l is the average engine size in most of Europe. Trucks are still purely commercial vehicles in most of the world, we made them nicer.
