Yeah cool color...he decided not to rug it cause it was smaller than he wanted...i would have rugged it for sure. Just kept the meat and he let the butcher have the hide.

 

Never tried bear, do you have to acquire a taste for it? Gamey er nah?

Naaaa. Not gamey. I like it. They seem to take on the flavor of what they been eating tho. So costal bears eating fish sometimes get stinky and fishy tasting. But this was a good mountain bear eating berries and shit. Delicious!

Yeah i notice it with some animals for sure. Even deer here in Alberta if i take one on the ranches where theyre running around in the cattle fields eating the same as cattle i bet you wouldnt know you were eating venison.

The mountain deer eating more bushes and what not have a stronger taste that most people would call "gamey"

 

Thats what I was gonna say; deer around here are pretty much grain fed from corn and bean fields, they tend to taste a lil better than hill deer that have been eating sticks n'shit.
