One on me when I got home...it got escorted down the drain. Total of 6 for the weekend, no deer ticks this year.

Carlos, Dave and I had some fun adventures after leaving Bear Paw. Carlos showed us Cathedral of the Pines. Really beautiful old growth forest. Then we took a long walk through my old hunting grounds north of hwy 8 between Laona and Crandon. That was cool for me to see after about 15 years since I was last there. I was happy to see it's being well maintained, even if it was gated and we couldn't ride in. We found a neat wildlife viewing area at Knowles Creek, but didn't see a lot of wildlife.

Dave headed back home after that and then we saw wildlife! A couple deer and then we turned a corner and saw a very large black bear in on the gravel road. He gave us a long look and then casually sauntered back into the woods. Soon after, a deer ran across the road not that far in front of Carlos.

Now we're at a great little campsite Carlos stayed at last year. He didn't realize it then, but there is a pretty little babbling stream maybe 40 yards down a path from the site. There's also a weird partial enclosure protected by an electric fence. Signs say it's for a protected species of turtle. We didn't see any. I want to learn more about this.

All together an amazing weekend! Trying to post pics from today and having signal issues. I'll get some up tomorrow.

Good call! I just need to start budgeting for a new air filter at every one of these things, lol.

You don't need a spotter if you have Alf in your back window and the tunes cranked.

I was concerned about getting up that obstacle after seeing the trouble everybody else had, even the guys with lockers. I got to see the problem areas before my attempt and adjusted (i.e. guessed) my lines accordingly. I probably wouldn't have cleared it if I was one of the first ones up.

I'm going to try it without a spotter next month, probably. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Of the 4 times I've attempted the rock garden at the pipeline, I've made it up twice on my own without getting stuck, and gotten stuck twice with spotters. o_O

To be fair, I don't always follow directions very well.

This is the one that we saw, it was right on Bucks Road. Earlier this morning I saw another black bear that was even bigger than this one, east of Wabeno on Hwy C. It look very well fed!
