    Happy Birthday!

I stopped by Friday afternoon. There were a ton of Aggressor models on display, but no Avalanche. They built one for me, so I went to check it out today. 50% off sounds like a good deal, but in this case, maybe not so much.

GT models typically have 2 or 3 tiers, and this bike doesn't seem to have one. I wonder if the options are exclusive for Dicks/PL? The model also appears to be a 2020/2021, being that it still comes with 3x9 gears, and the cabling is still on the outside of the frame. Two of the three Avalanche models are also under $1k from GT, and I'm thinking PL probably inflated the price so discounts seem like a better deal. The chain that comes with it is paper thin, and the reviews about the chain snapping show that.

I also don't have 100% confidence in bikes assembled in department stores. I saw a couple things that needed adjustment.

The town office where my lot is at is awesome. Everyone there actually answers emails and phonecalls and has been one step ahead of me in offering info and advice. Absolutely not in alignment with my experience especially when dealing with a municipal level agency.

Guess who gets to spend his first day of vacation cleaning shattered glass out of his yard? This guy!

Police chase ended outside my house when a dude drilled a minivan and 180'd into a tree on the side of my house. Tree took a good hit, I have low expectations it will survive. Whether or not it's a town tree or mine, I don't know, but I'm not about to ring the police station and be like "so about that tree" or file a claim against a dude who's now facing trafficking and weapons charges.

That was my Sunday, how was yours?

Trees are big money insurance wise! File a claim and tell them you want the tree back.

edit: didn’t your grandfather give it to you

I reached out to my agent for the lolz and they said I'd have to file against the dude who crashed (assuming the car was his / insured / etc). If I didn't want to go that route, I'd have to go against my house insurance and then it's trying to prove that the damage would exceed my deductible, etc. It's honestly more hassle than it's worth to me at this point.

Do you have the plate number and is it a MA plate? If so, there's a publicly available way to look up the registration. It'll tell you the make/model of the vehicle, whether or not it's got a current registration and inspection, and the insurance on file. If there is insurance, I wouldn't hesitate to go after him. If there isn't, it's probably a waste of time.

a sapling can be 10-50$ and drop it in. I've been looking at doing 1-5 cherry blossoms.

Quick Mr. Goog says a full grown oak could be about 1-2k to get it, and bring it in, plant it, etc.

Have a tree person come and check it out, better to know she's cooked now instead of 2 years from now when it comes down on a car. Or if it's recoverable. Never know, could be!
